NICOLE Kidman has made a public stand against terrorism.

The actress, joined by 84 other high-profile Hollywood stars, directors, studio bosses and media moguls, has taken out a powerfully-worded full page advertisement in today's Los Angeles Times newspaper.

It specifically targets "terrorist organisations" such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.

"We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas," the ad reads.

"If we do not succeed in stopping terrorism around the world, chaos will rule and innocent people will continue to die.

"We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs."

A who's who of Hollywood heavyweights joined Kidman on the ad.

The actors listed included: Michael Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Danny De Vito, Don Johnson, James Woods, Kelly Preston, Patricia Heaton and William Hurt.

Directors Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Dick Donner and Sam Raimi also signed their names.

Other Hollywood powerplayers supporting the ad included Sumner Redstone, the chairman and majority owner of Paramount Pictures, and billionaire mogul, Haim Saban.

I don't like it when Hollywood types come out with their politics, but these folks agree with me so it's okay. :ras:

Its just like your saying..."who cares what you think"

because sometimes...a cry of a small community is just as the same as a whisper of a legend...

It's nice to see.
It's nice to just read that some in Hollywood get it,
hey, yes, there are really terrorists, and some of
them are in Hamas and Hezbollah. Shocking.
Considering so many think only the USA is the
terrorist.

She once again proves she is smart, she dumped
crazy Tom Cruise, won an Oscar, married a new
guy from her home nation, and she gets this
issue too.

"We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs."
They could donate to Lebanon. A democratic society, of which Hezbollah is an elected constituent.

Hon, we're going to do a press conference later with Joan Rivers where the three of us announce that we're against world hunger and gang violence. I know, a controversial position, but it worked for the Dixie Chicks and my portfolio isn't performing lately so I need a publicity boost.

I don't know if I can pull that off with my "rubenesque" figure. :o

You can say you're not wasting your food because you can't send it to the starving people in Africa because of the war.

So true!

Why should they as regular folk like yourself
be allowed to express opinons and beliefs. :)

I apologize in advance for offending anyone by this post, but this has nothing to do with Hollywood "getting it right" and everything to do with most of the powerbrokers in Hollywood being Jewish. If you don't publicly condemn Hamas and Hezbollah, you'll never work in that town again.

Celebrities have just as much right to voice their opionions just like everyone else. It cracks me up when people think they should shut up.

It's amazes me that just because a person is a star, that denounces their right to have opinions about real and serious matters.

As long as they are doing their homework and know what they are talking about, let em have their say for crying out loud.

There was a time where the Black Panthers were called terrorists. Now history teaches us that they themselves were victims of terrorism.

The fact is the Hamas and Hezbollah don't exist because muslims hate jews and christians. If society would adress the root of their frustrations and show them that diplomacy is a better means to resolve differences then they will definately stop with their violent tactics.

MURDER IS WRONG

Oh wait, this is the time of the year where everyone brings out full page adverts stating the painfully obvious, correct?
