From the Choirgirl Hotel.. it was more pop-friendly than her other albums, and being not so big of a fan of her's, I liked it more than the others.. Little Earthquakes follows close behind.

Under the pink. One of her purest albums and by far her best. And seeing that list I just realized that I own all her albums except for the three last ones. As a casual fan, am I missing something?

I'll plump for Under The Pink because it contains "Yes, Anastasia", which I consider to be one of the best songs ever written. :D

All her albums have their good qualities, however.

I voted for Little Earthquakes cos that's my fav at the moment but to be honest my opinion changes on her albums everytime I listen to each of them, one moment Little Earthquakes is the best then Under The Pink is, then Boys For Pele...and so on. For now I'll say Little Earthquakes :)

'Under The Pink' is my favourite though there's plenty of merit on all her albums.

Joris, I think you'd find 'Scarlet's Walk' and 'The Beekeeper' a little pedestrian. I've not played them too much and think I've got them more for completist reasons more than anything, though her vocals and melodies on 'Scarlet's Walk' are really good.

Boys For Pele.

With the exception of 'The Beekeeper' I love all of her albums.

I love all of her albums, but I chose From the choirgirl hotel, especially because of Spark, Jackie's strength and the amazing Northern Lad.

I'm having a real hard time to vote as i love all albums. I'm gonna vote for Scarlet's Walk cos it is, imo, a magnificent piece of work. Lyrically, musically.. and i love the artwork and the atmosphere of the whole album.

Plus it contains the amazing A Sorta Fairytale and Taxi Ride.

PS: Beat you should have included Tales of a Librarian, it would have made my vote easier ;)

I was just thinking about this the other day while organizing iTunes. Very difficult to answer because she has released so much amazing work. If I have to choose, it would be From the Choirgirl Hotel, followed by Boys for Pele, Scarlet's Walk, Under the Pink and Little Earthquakes.

Im a fan of Tori Amos but from the choirgirl hotel is her only cd I listen to over and over and over again.

Try singing to Pandora's Aquarium though:lol:

a close race - we do need some more votes!

PS: Beat you should have included Tales of a Librarian, it would have made my vote easier ;)
i decided against compilations, because for some artists it would add up to too many albums. and compilations don't really have the same status as "proper" albums, do they?

got your rep message, dahveed (can't rep you back): good idea! :)

Boys for Pele is an absolute masterpiece and is consistently full of moments of sheer lyrical and musical genius that she's never quite been replicate on a whole album since. It was the last of her albums where the piano really dominated the sound, something I lament the loss of. But all of her albums are wonderful (well, except the Beekeeper, which is 50% tosh). Roll on the new box set next month!
