It's incredibly hard to decide between the AO semis vs. Clijsters in 2003 and vs. Sharapova in 2005. Of course the comeback against Clijsters made the Serena Slam possible, admist all the hype and pressure of winning four (!!!) consecutive slams. But one could only imagine what everyone would have said about Serena (and Sharapova) had she lost that semifinal in 2005. For me, the latter comeback was more important in terms of Serena's current/generational standing, whereas the former was more important in terms of making history.

Anytime you are 1-5 down in the third and are able to comeback and win it's an amazing effort, but to do it with the added pressure of trying to win four consecutive slams, that's instant legend.

against clijsters is her most impressive. it kept her serena slam going, and she was down 1-5 with the whole crowd behind clijsters.

my fav was 04 wimbledon against amelie bc at the time i really wanted an all american final (serena v lindsay), and i was pleasantly surprised to see sharapova in the final.

My vote was for the Wimbledon 04 SF. I dont remember being so pumped throughout an entire Serena match. Her leap at the end of the match said it all. Although it was outdone by her leap after the AO SF lol.

it's close between the 03 Ao and 05 Ao, but i picked 05

The '05 AO SF slightly edges the '03 AO SF because of the drama, not to mention after listening to Mary Carillo spew her venom for 2 hrs...Serena basically shut her up.

A0 03 v. Kim, one of the most incredible comebacks I've ever seen :worship:

Australian Open against Kim. I was watching the scoreboard on my computer, not knowing what the hell was going on except that Serena was coming back and all the time I was looking at the score and going 'Come on Serena, come on Serena' and she came back and it's why no matter who Serena plays I have confidence in her and her ability to fight.

The one at Wimbledon vs Mauresmo because I was completely behind Serena in that match

Although both AO's were special I chose 03. I remember being absolutely stunned at Serena's effort in that match. She kept the Serena Slam alive, came back from 1-5 and shut up the crowd...all with the ugliest blisters i've ever seen on her feet.

U.S. Open, 2005..... when she came-back through the buffet line for the third time.

Seriously, my personal favorite comeback was one where she came up just short. In the '04 YEC final, after pulling a muscle in her abdomen, Serena damn near came back to beat Maria Sharapova without a serve! The best she could do on-serve was lobb the ball over the net about 45 mph just to put the ball in play. It was a tremendous display of guts and determination when she won about four games in a row and almost pulled the match out!

I agree that its the Australian Open 05, having to fight not only Sharapova, but being bad mouthed as in Decline by the biased/unprofessional Carillo during the match made her victory especially sweet, atleast the crowd was behind Serena.

The AO 03 against Clijsters, to me, was a better comeback, because she not only saved match points, but came back from a much larger defecit. (1-5 in the 3rd)

However, my vote still goes to AO 05 against Sharapova. Those forehands saving those match points! :hearts: :hearts:

I voted for the 2005 semifinal in Australia.
Then I'd say the 03 AO.
The reason I go for 05 is because of the sheer drama involved. I am not a fan of either, and was worrying more about the second semifinal that evening, but found myself pulled into the match. It was vintage comeback Serena. I though she was out of it, down three match points against a mentally tough Sharapova, but she remembered how to hit those shots out of nowhere. Incredibly impressive.
There was drama with Kim in 03, but because of what went down between Serena and Maria at Wimbledon and the YEC the season before, this one was just titanic. There was more riding on it in a way.

I think both her wins at the AO against Kim and Maria were amazing. I voted for 05 AO
