They are destined to meet in quarters. Will it be same story again, or is it third time lucky for Martina...Is Kim really so tough on hardcourt. Already at AO it was close, at FO less so...Kim played solid, but Martina's game/mental was not completely there. Martina's game has been improving steadily..but then again Kim had marvellous US hardcourt season last year, will this year be the same...

Kim should confront Stosur/Dechy and Jankovic before quarters, might be a chance for surprise defeat there.
Martina should make it to quarters with relative ease, confronting Tu/Granville and Jackson/Pennetta after that.
These ladies always meet in quarters, no matter what Hingis's seed is!
I'm pretty confident that the winner will make it to final, no questions asked from Petrova/Vaidisova ;)

After Wimbledon I would not simply say that Martina will reach the quarters for sure. I ain't setting myself up for a letdown. HOWEVER, if they do meet, I really really really really really hope Martina can pull it out. She needs the points. She's on the brink of the top 8 in the race(I think she's number 7?). She's always done well here and on hardcourts, so I'm really hoping she can pull this out. I'm hoping for a Sharapova-Martina final.

I think its physically and mentally 100% impossible for Kim to beat Martina this time.

I think Kim .... what I saw of her at Stanford was good... so it looks like she's in a good form..

Shouldn't we wait before they actually get to the QF and make predictions then?

It SHOULD go three sets if Martina plays well. At AO she was on her best surface arguably, but not near match tough or fit enough. French she played poorly, no excuse, and was a little sluggish. I'm thinking after a break, and back on hardcourts, which is one of her best surfaces (if not her best) she could win.

I like them both. Martina has always been my favorite. I'm hoping it's Martina.

Martina will win this one, I truly believe this, if they both make it there...She looked like she was going to spew all over the red clay at RG and still brought the first set to a TB:

Martina, 7-5, 6-3 :)

I really hope martina wins, but I think Kim is good form and really comfortable on the hard courts. Kim's back injury could take some pace off her serve which would give martina a better chance, however, I think Kim's hitting the ball pretty well at the moment and should take it in 3 or 2 close sets.... but i wouldn't count martina out in this match either...

(if the match happens at all)

Kim is looking very strong after her win last week.

I just hope Martina plays really well :) I would love to see her win this, it would be good for her to get a win over a top player ahead of the US Open.

Clijsters can't beat Martina this time, I wish I could tell Kim's fans something different but the reality is the reality. Kim has no chance of winning a set, its inevitable and written :(

Kim, she will be in better form because of her play at Stanford.

Kim, without a shadow of a doubt. Probably in 2 comfortable sets.;)

IF they both make it the quarters, Clijsters will undoubtebly win. The only girl I see beating Clijsters on the US HC is Henin. (For sad psychological reasons.)

4 out of 5 times kim will win, this is one of those rare times hingis wins.

Kim has won their last encounters in slams, and it's hard court we're talking about, so should those two meet in the final, I'ld give Kim favourite

It's the second time in a row that Kim has a tough draw (the other being Stanford). It's amazing how unlucky Kim is with the draws.

Schnyder had a easier draw and Sharapova will have had a much easier draw when Kim and Sharapova meet in the final of this event.

BTW : Hingis doesn't stand a chance and she knows it. Look for a 5-0 Belgians versus Hingis this year after the QF.

Yes, not easy early opponents there.

You mean 4-0,
Hingis lost to Henin at January 6-3, 6-3 and then couple of times to Kim in GS's.
Hingis still leads H2H against both of them, Henin 2-1, Clijsters 4-3. She'll better start winning soon ;)
