Honestly I would prefer Ciara's thighs over any part of Beyonce's body.

Beyoncé is definately the hottest chick in the game (along with Trina) and she always does amazing performances.

She usually lips the entrances, because there is alot of dancing, but sings the rest of the performance.

You're crazy if you don't think it's one of the hardest songs to sing. That is a widely known fact, thats why only professional singers sing it. Do you know how many times, it's been destroyed.

Christina version of the Star Spangle Banner was different. I'm not a fan of it because I like the orginal arrangement of The Star Spangle Banner. Beyonce's version was the better version compared to Christina. Whitney holds the trump card in the whole deal though and noone will be able to top that.

Yes, but I'm talking about VOCAL PERFORMANCES.

Here is Christina singing At last, which is a hard song to sing because you must have a lot of emotion to pull this song off.

Yes, but Star Spangle Banner is not the hardest song to sing, not even close... and BEYONCE lipped hers at the superbowl. It was pre-recorded not LIVE.

I disagree. It can be a very hard song to sing. If you have any bad habits with your vocals, you can easily get stuck in a minor at the lyrics
"Twilight Last Gleaming" and it's very hard to get out of, just ask Tamyra Gray. It was a smart move on Beyonce's part because I would have rather her pre-recorded than do what the Dixie Chicks did one year. The Dixie Chicks forgot to tell the orchestra to play in the key of F sharp until the last minute, that's the key the Dixie Chicks usually sing in. The orchestra was trying to tranpose from the key of F to F sharp as fast as they could and barely did it before the performance.
The orchestra with Beyonce's version was better than her pre-recorded vocals. She could have sang it Live. If Beyonce and Christina have one thing in common it's that it is rare to see either of them off-key ever. Her vocals just weren't as good as Whitney's and likely will never be.

Who do you think is the best vocalist (out of Christina and Beyonce)?

I'll say one thing, if we compare every vocalist out there, Lara Fabian is the definite best, even better than old whitney, celine and mariah... she's just not known... but she's the best technical singer.

Lara Fabian is a good singer. Is she better than Celine? I would say yes as a vocalist. Is she better than Whitney? No. The versatility is not there. Whitney can sing in the genre of Lara Fabian and actually be better. I've heard clips of Whitney just ad libbing opera and just shocking the hell out of everyone. I hear Lara Fabian singing jazz-esque tunes in the De-Lovely Soundtrack and there's something missing. I hear Whitney doing the same thing and I couldn't ask for more. Again we're talking about the younger Whitney not the skinny cracked up one that is present today.

I still think Lara is a better TECHNICAL singer than Whitney. She can belt cleaner, longer and louder with her head voice.

Whitney does have more soul though.

Beyonce is a better harmonizier. She can sings a style that is more complicated on paper. She weaves inside minors and majors without anyone even noticing she's doing it. She has some bad habits though which annoy me more than they do with Christina. Most of Beyonce's habits are choices she makes to compromise her sound. That's something that Beyonce has always done though so she doesn't see anything wrong with it. She wasn't always this high of a soprano but her vocal teacher with the insistence of her parents made her do exercises that stretched her vocal chords as far as they could be stretched. I just thought I would add that fact since people think Christina's voice will give out before Beyonce's when they're in their late thirties and fourties. It likely will be the other way around.

Cator

Both Christina and Beyonce are horrible technical singers.

Christina uses her chest voice way too much to make herself sound loud.

Lara Fabain to me, is the best technical singer... She's 40 and sounds better than ever. That's what happens when you were trained in classical music since the age of 5... Lara said once she still took lessons in her 30s.

Lara Fabian is one of the best but honestly I just see her maybe a level over Delta Goodrem as a technical singer. Whitney got lessons once she was signed to a contract. Her best vocals came from her earliest work and 7 years after. To be able to sing "Will Always Love You" even in her likely cracked out state with damage vocals is amazing.

Cator
Jul 18th, 2006, 01:03 AM
Lol, yeah, but I will Always Love you isn't as hard to sing compare to Lara's version of Adagio.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivrOsunir-o

If you never saw this, watch it... the ending is jaw dropping.

On a side note, I like Whitney's tone more, and her soul, but in her prime, she still couldn't top Lara's pure belting.

I definitely think Christina has the more powerful voice. Does this make her the better vocalist? Well it all depends on individual taste. A more powerful voice does not necessarily indicate a better vocal ability; especially considering that Christina is not always on point with her vocals.

However, I do think that Beyonce is the much better performer. Ask Christina to dance like Beyonce does and still maintain her vocal performance and I think you'll find she'd be unable to do so to the level that Beyonce manages to maintain her voice.

i wonder how these celebs come up w/ names for their alter egos.

ANYWAYS... i think its hard to compare the two vocalists because they both are excellent singers, but they have different types of voices.

and as far as Star Spangled Banner is concerned, relatively speaking on a musical standpoint, its not an easy song, and its not a hard song. However, many songs can be considered "hard songs" on a non-musical standpoint because they have been sung by extremely famous singers who have sung it amazingly. Therefore, in a relative sense, it becomes harder to perform these types of "hard songs" because when the performance becomes compared to the many great performances out there, your performance has to be just as good if not better as those performances in order for your performance to be considered a great performance.

She was flat at the beginning during the harmony and her voice even cracked a little there as well. The rest of it was nice. I never said she couldn't sing if she got off the drugs. She can still sing if the drugs are out of her system. Some people don't think she can ever sing the way she did years ago, I'm not one of those people. Her outfit is stunning. She looks stunning.
