I got a job!!!!
I work at a coffee shop, making coffee and pastries and everything else that relates to cafes.
But, it's my first ever job and I'm sooooooo nervous that I'll fuck up or that i won't be able to handle it.
Any pointers on how to get over my pre-job jitters?

It's natural to be nervous, but I'll tell you, that's a nice first job to have.

Good luck! :)

If you go into it with the attitude that you aren't going to take any shit from anybody, you'll do fiine.

Make sure you know where the bathroom is.

Don't rush, it's your first day. Do the best you can and never be shy about asking a question. (This is harder to do that one realizes).

Good luck! :wavey:

Good Luck!

Be nice to everyone and don't get into any shop politics.
Look customers in the eye and smile and speak clearly.
Ask the manager or the trainer how you are doing, once in a while.
If it is slow, ask what else you can do to keep busy.

OK, that should do it!

Let us know how it goes!!

congrats, girl!

My advice is to take it slow and don't panic if it gets too busy. don't expect to pick up everything the first day. and most importantly don't be anybody's doormat. if you start out that way, people will expect you to stay that way.

I'm sure you'll do well :)

Take your job seriously but have fun with and BE YOURSELF. That is what I tell my new employees that have not worked before.

Be willing to want to know everything you will be just fine.

ok guys.
thanks for all the good lucks.
not a bad start; of course i'm still learning.
i just figure that i'll do what i need to do. the girl i worked with tonight was totally cool and wrote down everything about how to make the different drinks for me.
it was a good first day; i'm an EXTREMELY shy person, but i think i could have talked a bit more. eh well. I'll get used to it.
thanks again guys for the well wishes. its a nice little experience so far.

oh cool. my dad's pestering me atm to get a job. i already babysit regularly and deliver pamphlets but you know i want more money. i applied at boarders today which would be nice to work in. I am also a very shy person and am finding it hard to build up the courage even to ask for jobs! Hope it all went/goes well.

Don't be late, and don't clock in unless you are dressed properly and ready to work right away.
