Oprah: Gayle And I Are Friends, Not Lesbian Lovers

POSTED: 9:50 am EDT July 17, 2006

They're not gay -- not that there's anything wrong with that.

In the August issue of "O" magazine, Oprah Winfrey opens up about those gay rumors involving her and best friend Gayle King.

She said she can see why people think they're an item, because they're always together.

She said people ask, "How can you be this close without it being sexual? But she said it's not. She said the problem is "there isn't a definition in our culture for this kind of bond between women."

Plus, Winfrey said if they were gay they'd admit it, because there's nothing wrong with being gay. King said the rumors used to bother her, adding "it's hard enough to get a date on Saturday night." :tape:

But King said she doesn't care anymore.

Gayle is totally a leech and will do anything Oprah asks her to. In exchange she gets to live a lavish lifestyle along side Oprah. If that means she has to do a little "overtime" it's not that bad of a deal for the perks she gets :haha:

anyone see Kathy Griffin's stand-up? I think it was "Kathy Griffin is NOT Nicole Kidman"
anyway, Kathy was talking about the Oprah episode where Oprah goes back in time to that reality show where everyone is supposed to live like it's 1623.
kathy goes "oprah was there with her....friennnnnnd...Gayle...."
the humor doesn't translate on here, but anyone who saw it will know how funny Kathy was when she said it.

When I see two guys that are really chummy, I assume they're sleeping together.

It's just part and Parcel for what certain successful people have to go through, a bunch of non-sense.

Gayle was there before there was money & fame, why shouldn't she be there now that those things are present.

I find it sad that if Oprah and Gayle had a falling out years ago and Oprah had numerous people she called her best friend most people wouldn't talk about it but because she found someone who believes in the same things she does, someone who has been with her through thick and thin, it's a problem. Pitiful.

I think you're right.

Good on Oprah for getting the best of both worlds. :)
