For crying out loud, it's not that bad. I don't know what more you can possibly expect. Vaidisova is really the only tough player.

I actually think her draw looks pretty good? Morigami shouldn't trouble her, she's beaten Golovin at least a couple of times, and Petrova should be rusty. Ana has beaten Nadia and Nicole before, so I think this is a great chance to get to the semis for Ana.

yes, and i won't be dissappointed if she doesn't. but i won't be really happy about her achievement either. if you look at it, she is always seeded to reach the 3rd round. i'm only truely happy if she does more than that because that means progress

Good thing is that Ana is 99% sure to stay in Top20 before US Open. She should be ranked #17 if she does better than Flavia and Daniela till USO - what she really has to do. But the chance for that important #16 seed is little, unless she does superb (which I believe she has potenial for). Because in safe-pts ALG is like 400 pts in front of her :help: :(

it is precisely here that i can see why people complain that she does not play more tournaments. her ranking is still based on just 16 of them and that means that even her 1st round exits due to injury count  but then, injuries are the main reason she played so few tournaments over past 12 months.

her declared goal for this year was to reach top 10, but i don't see it happening. i hope she will establish herself in top 16, though. that means better seedings for the next year.

I really think that Amy has a great shot at the semis in this tournament!!! I know that might seem crazy, but she should win over Amy, then I'm hoping that she can beat a rusty Petrova or overwhelm Chaky. Then a very enticing match with Nicole that I also think she can win. It's really not that impossible! All players that Ana has the talent to beat in my opinion. Kim would be an incredibly tough challenge in the semis, but you never know what will happen if she can get that far. Just go for it Ana!!!

This is a report from Acura webside:

:worship:

1 2 3
Ana IVANOVIC (SCG) 6 6
Amy FRAZIER (USA) 3 2

Ivanovic Ousts Veteran Frazier

Fourteenth-seeded Ana Ivanovic of Serbia built large leads in both sets and then held off American veteran Amy Frazier, 6-3, 6-2 in a second-round Acura Classic match.

Playing the second match on Stadium Court, the 18-year-old Ivanovic showed that her game is more than just about power. She mixed up her game with a combination of power and touch as she kept the 33-year-old Frazier off balance.

Down 3-0 in the first set, Frazier hit three double faults to lose serve and make the score 4-0. Ivanovic increased her score to 5-0 as she held serve at love, smacking an ace on game point.

Frazier staged a brief rally as she captured the next three games in a row only to have Ivanovic serve out the set at 5-3 as the Serbian won her serve at love and hitting another ace on set point.

For Frazier the second set must have seemed like déjà vu as she fell behind 4-0 before she held serve and came back to break Ivanovic to make the score 4-2.
Serving at 30-30 in the next game, Frazier sent a short crosscourt forehand wide to give Ivanovic a break point.

That was all Ivanovic needed as she slammed a backhand down the line service return to earn the break and take a 5-2 lead.

Ivanovic took a 40-15 lead as she served for the match. After she double faulted and hit a down the line backhand into the net, the score stood at deuce.

Well, the LA draw is out, and it looks like a draw that Ana has great chances to go far with. But of course, I felt that way this past week as well.... Hopefully Ana will start taking advantage of these draws and go deeper into the tournament. 1st round against Vera Douchevina, 2nd round against a qualifier or Mara Santangelo, 3rd round against ALG if she gets through, then a quarterfinal against Lindsay or possibly Jeca! C'mon ANA!!!! Please do something this tournament!!!!

LOS ANGELES

Ana's quarter of the draw:
[6] Groenfeld
BYE
Dechy
Morigami
Santangelo
Qualifier
Dushevina
[10] Ivanović

I love this draw. Mostly because I waited long enough for some match-ups that can happen right here. Wiera should be a pushover given her form of late (even when their H2H is tied at 1-1) erm. I hope ALG won't fall too early. I hate how she is ranked above Ana only because she plays like 152358063 tournaments in one year :retard: So I want my Anci to spank that German a$$ :p So I'm starting to pray for her to reach QF because there she can meet Lindsay. Great first step in this tournament for Ana!!! Now go take those big groundstrokes to Mara! Mara may be a little tricky since she likes to come to net and slices a lot, but I think Ana will have too much power for her to play the game she wants. It will be interesting to see how this part of the draw shapes up - so many interesting possible encounters.

I thought that Mara would be a tough customer, but that was close. However, a win is a win, and I hope Ana can get another one against ALG. I am so hoping both ladies can get through to play each other, then we are guaranteed that one of them will finally reach their first semifinal this year in a tier 2 or higher. Or the first semi at all for Ana and 2nd for Jelena. Anyways, go Ana go!!!!

If someone had 13 aces, very good 1st serve percent that means she didn`t play very good, but Ana won and that is the most impotrant. I think ALG is not so good like her ranking is and Ana could win, but she has to prove this on the court. Good luck Ana, I want Serbian QF.

6-1 1-2

And 6-1 2-2 now. ALG serving, break her Ana please!!! It seems to be a bit closer in the 2nd set, and Ana's stats look like she might be dropping down a bit, 1st serve percentage has fallen and she's got 2 df's compared to none in the first set. ALG's first serve percentage has also fallen but she's winning a higher percentage of 1st and 2nd serves than in the first set, so Ana's return game seems to be off a little right now. Hopefully she can correct that now!!

This is a disappointing result for Ana, that's for sure. But to be honest, in-form Jelena would always be a difficult opponent for her, because she's exactly the type of player that doesn't suit Ana. she's been doing that fairly often recently, but it's not enough for me anymore, i'm afraid :( with this draw i don't think we can expect much more from her in montreal, though :ofrom higher-ranked players she's beaten only Dinara and ALG recently... both of them could hardly be considered as more talented than Ana IMHO and are not that much higher than Ana in the ranks. Still these are decent wins (those days we will take Ana Top20 win, won't we? :help: )... Beating Top10 as Swieta is coming from an injury will be something more of an achievement. She's beaten her before, she's lost to her twice this year (in 2 weeks :tape:  ) and Swieta has never done great in Canada. Go and get her!

This has been quite an irritating year to be a fan of Ivanovic. She has had some good, solid wins but she hasn’t really delivered any wins against the absolute top players on tour. She is ranked in the top 20, a fine effort, but I feel it could and should be a lot higher. She has managed to get through the first few rounds in most tournaments she’s entered but hasn’t had a breakthrough victory, and really has only won the games she’s been expected to. And then whenever she comes up against the best she seems to falter.

However it’s been a reasonably consistent year and with her new coaching staff things will only get better.

Srebotnik is extremely tricky and can play very hot and cold tennis. Ana will need to play well to beat her, but I agree with everyone that she really has never had a better chance to go this far in a big tournament. Dinara will of course crush Pratty, but Ana has already beaten Dinara earlier this year, so a final is extremely realistic for Ana. A win over Srebotnik should also guarantee her a top 16 seed at the USO which would be huge for Ana! I fully expect Ana's ranking to drastically improve based on her 2nd round exit from last year's USO. She should have no problem getting to the 4th round (unless someone like Serena or Hingis pops up in her early rounds), and I really think she can challenge for the quarters. Hopefully she'll have her "A" game with her for this match! PLEASE MAKE THE SEMIS ANA!!!! I have been waiting for her to do this all year!!!!!!!! Don't disappoint me again!!!

Im so happy she won! :bounce: I have been that happy twice before because of her - when she won over Amelie @ RG and in Warsaw over Patty when I was there and happened what happened

I think the best thing is that she is sure of that #16 seed @ Open! :D

Now she has to give her best against Dinara - she surely plays some great tennis these days! But Ana can beat her - I'm sure she can and she wants! :hearts:

Ajde Ana - Fight your heart off tomorrow!

Awesome match - I just finished watching it. Ana was just blasting that forehand all over the court. She also had 4 or 5 backhand winners as well. I was really very pleasantly surprised by her slice backhand as well!!! It basically won her the match on that fantastic match point. Her technique on that shot is VERY good and she gets a nice angle on it with a good deal of pace as well. She used it at the right times and very effectively as well. Her second serve seems to be kicking very well too - I think her new coach has helped her with that shot. That should help against Safina as well and prevent her from attacking Ana's second serve too much. It would just be so amazing to see Ana in the final. I really hope she can win again tomorrow. Hopefully the match will be televised.

Great match. Ana`s forehands were

Last time when she played against Dinara everything depends on Ana. Dinara won set thanks to Ana`s mistakes, when Ana played better she won... I hope Ana will stay focused. Ajde!
