Amelie is out!

wow, guess this means tati is playing for sure. before, i thought it was going to be amelie and 50/50 on either tati or dechy.

now we know why tati is on those promotional posters. and i guess the fft was in a hurry and the only picture they could find was one from 4 years ago.

the selection is out and tati is playing!

R1 - T.GOLOVIN (FRA) v N.VAIDISOVA (CZE)
R2 - N.DECHY (FRA) v L.SAFAROVA (CZE)
R3 - N.DECHY (FRA) v N.VAIDISOVA (CZE)
R4 - T.GOLOVIN (FRA) v L.SAFAROVA (CZE)
R5 - S.BREMOND / E.LOIT (FRA) v I.BENESOVA / K.PESCHKE (CZE)

i think that these two might be the most important matches of tati's career. if she can win, she'll be right behind amelie. if she loses two, that won't be good.

"Yes it's going to be a very difficult match, but we had a very good week of preparation and we're all ready and i know that we're very optimistic and motivated so we'll see how it goes. It's good because we've been waiting for this the whole week and we can't wait to be on the court. We're very well prepared and we're going to do our best, i know we'll have a lot of support... We hope to win."

[asked about her injury]
"I'm much better. I've been training for 2 weeks, i'm working really hard so i hope it'll pay off. We're a team, so Amélie or not, we're here and we're ready. In Moscow, there was the same scenario and we manage to do well anyway."

[about vaidisova and her great performance at rg]
"she plays very well. we thought she wasn't at ease on clay but she's proved [us wrong], she won strasbourg and got into the semis at roland garros, so i'll just have to play my game and stay strong mentally."

That's basically what she's saying in that audio.
Thanks for the link to the pics and the audio, btw, FrenchY52 :)

13 Jul 2007 - Nova Yardinia, Castellaneta Marina, Italy - Eli Weinstein
Tale of two Tatianas
The draw for the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas semifinal between Italy and France has been made at the Felisia nightclub in Castellaneta Marina, and first to step up for their nation will be Tathiana Garbin and Tatiana Golovin, who have their first career meeting as they battle to give their teams an early advantage in this weekend's battle for a place in September's final.

World No. 6 Amelie Mauresmo will meet Francesca Schiavone in the second singles rubber on Saturday. The pair have met seven times previously, including two Fed Cup ties in 2004 and 2006 with Mauresmo holding the edge with four wins against the Italian's three. The full draw is as follows:

Tathiana Garbin (ITA) v Tatiana Golovin (FRA)
Francesca Schiavone (ITA) v Amelie Mauresmo (FRA)
Tathiana Garbin (ITA) v Amelie Mauresmo (FRA)

Tati about Bartoli

"I did not be born in France and I have the impression to be More french than she"
For the lizards, it is necessary to see Tatiana Golovin. Always so frank and spontaneous, she says all simply this as she has on the heart. And the text explanation takes a less analytical turn. In the American universities, the students give their opinion and Tati not itself some deprives: "I find that it is sad that she does not come. This are of the excuse the history of his father... It is good, this is a week in the year. This is an honor to be there. Of not to come, it is sad and disappointing, she does not give a good picture. When she goes to the TV and that she begins saying that the Russians beat us because she could not see his father in the tribunes. You are a tennis joueuse, you cannot unravel you all alone on the current. I find that ridiculous. What's more, one is not all alone, one has a great captain, a great trainer, great kinés, a very good staff. And when she says that the Italian ones won because they have their trainer, this is not true. If she does not want to be there, this is his problem. Me I did not be born in France and nevertheless, I have the impression to be More french than she." This is "the sentence of the day", launches then Amelia Mauresmo. __________________

I am torn about these comments. Her overall assessment is right, but she is quite hard on Marion. If she wants to have her dad with her to make her more at ease, I don't see why it is such a problem. Every player has her own methods, Tatiana should respect that. Anyway, Marion needed to rest.

But it's good to have this motivated and proud Tati back :D.

I like Marion but if she doesn't want to play Fed Cup because her daddy is not there then it's :bs::help:. Grow up. You are not even a legend yet.

Tati may sound a little harsh and honestly, a little bit bitter but i think it was mostly because Tati felt that she is always there for France even though she knew that her knee was fucked up and she had to stop playing for 2 months after that.

But now everyone on GM is going ot think that Tati is jealous of Marion which is fine with me.

Tati is not jealous, as FrenchY52 said, she is only very proud. But the other girls like Dechy are. For once that Marion could have some attention on her, the so-called French team has to criticize her, that's not fair. Marion has been a great ambassador for France in Wimbledon, so give her a break.

Tati is not jealous, as FrenchY52 said, she is only very proud. But the other girls like Dechy are. For once that Marion could have some attention on her, the so-called French team has to criticize her, that's not fair. Marion has been a great ambassador for France in Wimbledon, so give her a break.
I read Dechy's comments, I don't think she's jealous either. What she said was correct. No one is jealous of Marion (it's only one final and Dechy has won two Grand Slams) but it is just kinda obvious that Marion doesn't really put an effort to get close with the other girls or even try to fake an injury to come up with an excuse not to play and support the team.

Francesca Schiavone (ITA) v Tatiana Golovin (FRA)
Mara Santangelo /Roberta Vinci (ITA) v Nathalie Dechy/Severine Bremond (FRA)

She said that the rules musn't change, and that Marion isn't the only one who is tired, that they're all tired, they all play matches, etc ..

This is what I got from GM thread.

dechy says: 'If one leaves Marion to do that, there will always be another player that will arrive with another coach. And then another, and then another and to the end, there is no longer any team.'

'From the moment where you do an exception, it no longer works. And on the other hand, when I hear about fatigue, I don't agree at all. we all are tired, we all have a big number of matches in the legs when we arrive in Fed Cup'

'When one is finalist of a Slam, if one is not injured, this is an honor and a duty to represent her team and her country and to be going to win for a place in final. I find damage that Marion did not come.... I think that the results that the boys obtained in Davis Cup and the girls in Fed Cup were because of group spirit. To play a Fed Cup, this is much more difficult than to play a tournament, you need to have the team behind you. This is why we need to be a team."

Oh come on, she said everyone is tired. What is it if not jealousy ? Doubles don't count the same for French media. She is jealous of the attention Marion had on her. Don't underestimate the "only one final", all the French journalists loved Mauresmo just for her "only one final" in 1999.
Marion doesn't want to play in these conditions, I don't think it is the best choice but no one can blame her. Fed Cup has no real value objectively. In addition, it's easy to make these comments when you haven't been in a GS final. Last year, Mauresmo withdrew. In 2006, she played the final just to prove she was better than Mary. She couldn't support the humiliation Mary gave her in QF, she wanted to buy a new reputation.

In other circumstancies, I could have agreed with them, but I think this is real unfair to say that just when Marion is having her breakthrough.

Jul 13th, 2007, 04:40 PM
I'm looking at this as someone who is not biased. Nathalie doesn't strike me as someone who gets jealous because of publicity. She's almost 30 and the last thing on her mind is being jealous over someone who got in to the final of Grand Slam when she already have 2 Grand Slams on her own. Double may not be as "important" as single, but nevertheless, I'm sure she won't trade for being in the final of GS.

The thing is, what they said was harsh, but it was mostly facts.
(a) Marion complains about dad's not being there.
- No one ever has their own coach on Fed Cup. It's a teamwork. One for all, all for one.
(b) Marion is tired mentally and physically.
- One/Two matches over weekend representing your country after 5 days rest.
Besides, it's not the first time that Marion refuses to be on the team. It most prolly upset Tati/Momo/Dechy who are always there for France even when they are not playing well.

since when is tati wearing the longest pants of the team :p
no tatishorts ?

lool well the shorts the other three are wearing look like mens shorts and tati has syle so i dont think she'd want to wear mens shorts lol

This is what I got from GM thread.

my quote:p

but here's what i whote

yeah, I think what happened is after the peer match, the FFT invited her to join the french team and she said no, shes tired. Then after her final, she said the only way she'd gois if they changed the rules so her dad could come and coach her seperatly.

The FFT talked about it in a press conference and basically said they are the rules and they cant change the rules and blah blah blah. Then golovin, dechy and maybe mauresmo talked about it and tati obviously said she feels more french than bartoli coz shes representing her country. Tati also said she finds it sad that she hasnt come and the excuses are becouse of her dad. Tati also says its only 1 week in the year, its an honour to be there and she finds it sad and disappointing and it doesnt paint a good picture. Tati said ' she goes to the TV and that she begins saying that the Russians beat us because she could not see his father in the stands. I find that ridiculous. What's more, one is not all alone, one has a great captain, a great trainer very good staff. And when she says that the Italian ones won because they have their trainer, this is not true. If she does not want to be there, this is her problem.'

dechy says: 'If one leaves Marion to do that, there will always be another player that will arrive with another coach.

:tape::lol::lol:

its very true. i think we all have grown to Tati's ups and downs from her year. comes back from injury, plays ok, then plays well for a while, looks like she is about to shoot up the rankings, and bang, big injury, out a few months and start the process all over again.

the people in GM are very stupid, they don't understand how important the team bonding is to the french. they are only in awe (and shock) that bartoli made the wimbledon final so have jumped on the band wagon.

i dont care if the people in GM like Tati or not, what she said was the truth and honest. and thats all we can ask of Tati, better than some media trained comment like most give. and everyone here is funny and it adds spice to the place.

the thing about feeling more French than her kind of played into that Corsican thing the french media loves to carry on about. She probably shouldn't have said that cause it really had nothing to do with the questions I'm assuming they were asked.

I didn't like, however that the article portrayed Marion as some kind of martyre Jeanne d'Arc of the FFT  is it possible to have one article without a bias? Overnight Marion went from limited talent to Super Marion...

she can be the hero tomorrow :) taking the 3th point :yeah:

it's a good test for her since the long injury , if she wins that match, she's ready for the us open series :yeah: and that surface is not as hard for her ankle as clay is

.:sk:.
Jul 14th, 2007, 07:06 PM
Hope Momo will win vs. Garbin. Tati has a chance but Schiavone is a hard competitor. As Jirku said: Tati could become the hero if she wins.

So allez and good luck tomorrow :wavey:

sounds like. But France has to win it after the singles because Santangelo and Vinci are good doubles players.

Tati's really fighting back and Schiavone has come off of her cloud. Schiavone was super psyched up at the start and playing perfect tennis. Tati started slowly, but has now found her bearings. Lots of foot faults in this match. Very odd.
