Looks like 'our cup runneth' over' so to speak. The hollywood trend of turning our favorite comics into movies will continue on, thanks in large part to the past and most recent successes. With the latest batch of comic movies currently in theaters I was wondering which comic movie people think will end up ruling the box office over the next two years.

I have an ongoing friendly wager with a fellow poster in another thread RE: Superman vs. Xmen.

I am willling to bet 100 dollars that Superman movie will beat X-men 3 at the box office. i like both franchises but Superman will win becasue it has been like 20 years since las superman movie was made before special effects improved drastically.Last x men movie was a few years ago so the curiousity factor won't be there.

I know I'm taking the least popular position, but I'm confident that X3 will out perform Supes- so you got yourself a bet! But let's not bet $100 bucks- how about $50 instead?

i'm in with the betting thingie...I say X-Men will beat Superman at the box office... but, can i bet... 5 bucks? I'm poor!

I will win because Superman movie contains footage of Marlon Brando, is reportely the most expensive movie ever (the curiosity factor will increase), last Superman movie was made in 87 with cheesy special effects. But as you said in your rep it will be a tight race.

I'm as confident as ever about Xmen topping Supes, but I have no idea how Superman is doing so I have to leave room for being wrong.

With regards to my poll question I would have to say the top 3 would be:

1. Spiderman 3 (NO CONTEST)
2. Batman Sequel
3. Xmen 3: The Last Stand

I don't understand the infactuation with the Spiderman movies. I thought they were pretty entertaining, but the storyline was shallow and had bad acting from Kirsten Dunst.

spiderman 3 easily

Spidey 3. Because he's the bestest super-hero of them all....

I think Superman could do very well too. Because of the reasons already stated. He's still an icon in (American) pop-culture, and it's been twenty years since, so people are gonna want to see it. Have to say I wasn't exactly blown away by the trailer...but I still wanna see.

spidey will be tops.

didnt know they were making movies to all these comics. used to love transformer cartoons when i was a kid. they need to make a justice league movie. that would be the only thing that could take down spidey.

Obviously Spiderman 3. Nothing has a chance against it, but I'm definitely interested in the Flash and Ghostrider.

Early reports are coming in for Superman and as it stands it's looking pretty dismal and altogether disappointing for the 'Man of Steel'. Estimates indicate the movie took in roughly 55 million for the weekend and an additional 30 million including Wednesday and Thursday's showings. Under normal circumstances those would be great numbers, but when you factor in the 250 million budget and the high expectations at the box office this has to be a major disappointment.

Opening day the film took in approximately 22 million barely half of what Xmen 3 took in. In order for the movie not to be a complete bust they need to hope that good word of mouth keeps the figures stable over the next two weeks. And with Pirates of the Caribbean coming out I'm not sure Supes can hold on.

I wonder what happened to Superman? I really did expect it to be neck and neck with Xmen, but it appears that wont be the case. Not sure what implications this will have on future Superman projects. Let's see how the media deals with this in the coming days...

the last batman was a surprise to me. didnt expect it to be great. think batman sequel will be best, but spiderman will make the most money. think wonderwoman will do better than superman.
