View Full Version : How Do You Get Rid Of Pigeons

We live in central London, right in the heart of the city and this year pigeons have multiplied like never before. They nest in the top of overflows, gutters, window ledges, balconies. They bang against the windows and fly about your head. I found a nest on our balcony with 2 eggs. I was nearly sick clearing it up in elbow length rubber gloves and medical mask. They poo on window ledges, but worst of all they make the most awful noise through the night bonking themselves silly.

There's a stupid old woman who actually goes out and scatters bread crumbs in the middle of the street to feed them. Hundreds then flock and fight over the scraps. My BF went mad this afternoon and ran out and collared her and told her she was a mental case and that the birds didn't give a toss about her and that just cause she fed them it didn't mean they loved her. She broke down sobbing but he just told her to f off and if he caught her doing it again he would do her. Of course if this had been a 6 foot bruiser feeding the birds he wouldn't have done that, but it was a crazy old woman so he still is a little brave.

Does anyone else live in a city with this problem and does anyone know how to get rid of them - preferably in pigeon body bags?

As the Scottish comedian Billy Connolly said you never see baby pigeons or dead ones so they must go somewhere to die. But I would like to make it a public graveyard to scare off the other horrors. They are vile!

Feed them Alka-seltzers (if y'all have those in England) or rat poison. They are disgusting vile creatures and will eat anything.

Destroy any eggs that you find. :)

If you're in the US, you could buy an assault rifle or machine gun and just massacre them from your window.

offcourse this means your neighbour across the route will have to look out for bullets flying by, but with some luck you can also hit the old lady :yeah:

On a serious note, isn't their like a city-service where they deal with this kind of things? I would imagine a city as big as like London has something like that.

Where I live a woman got fined for feeding them.

They are a nuisance but I could never hurt one and get angry where I see kids trying to kick them or whatever. They feel pain.

No they don't unfortunately - they're too busy charging people for driving their cars through the city and trying to park!

You can always talk to them nicely, ask them politely to move along to a more desireable area for pigeons, like West Bromwich.

If that fails blow them away..

Just scare them. He pounces on them, then releases them.

Yeah our cat does the same, she has no sense of killing anything, I've never posted a picture of my cat actually, I think I'll get one :)
