View Full Version : HELP NEEDED , TAMIL SPEAKERS ?? -About Susheela Raman

Hi people :wavey:

There's a wonderful singer I've been fond of since the day I discovered her a few years ago : Susheela Raman-she's English of Indian roots , and sings either in English , or in native Indian languages such as Telugu, Sanskrit, Tamil or Hindi

There's a song I particularly like(between several others) and don't have the original lyrics- I think it's in Tamil -it's a "Tiruvachakam"(hymn to Shiva) called "Blue Lily , Red Lotus"

Here are the translated lyrics:

"This pond is filled
With blue lilies and red lotuses
Water bird sings
Snakes entire
People gather to wash away their dirt
This pool is then Shivashakti
Where with shuddering breath
Anklets and bracelets jangling
We enter the water
Raising waves"

I don't know if some people here speak Tamil, but if someone does and sees this, could you please try and translate this text for me ?

Thanks very much in advance if by any chance someone can help :)

the best thing would be to actually hear the song because I trust you it must be hard to translate ...
