I was lucky they showed the entire match here live. Sveta wasn't very good in the beginning - no range at all in her shots. The forehands were short, and the serve was poor.

Half way in the first set when it looked like the Italian was out classing Sveta, things finally worked for Kuzy.

Oppy did the exact same shots, only difference was Sveta started to really play. From here on Oppy looked really below average. All that talk about Roma seemed to be invalid today.

Good games the end when Sveta finally volleyed stuff.

I downloaded it and watched it. Sveta had a very slow start, but did a good job not to get behind a break or anything. She saved lots of BP's during the match with big serves and nice play. Oprandi started really well, using her trademark drop shot perfectly. In addition to being a fairly weak mover, Oprandi had some issues moving on the grass. She probably just needs a few more years to get used to the surface. After the first 6 games or so, Sveta started to play much better and was just a level above Oprandi. Nice first win for Sveta, and a good tournament for Oprandi :yeah:
