In a nutshell, this is why Bush, Sr refused to topple Saddam Hussein. Bad as he was, he was also the stopper on a bottle that kept a truly psychopathic genie caged.

Iraq now has, thanks to the USA, an insurgency AND a civil war.

The problem for the USA is,

a) if you apply enough military force to quell the civil war, you provide addition targets for the insurents. (Hell, you create more insurgents.)

b) If you withdraw the troops the insurgents are fighting, the civil war get worse and worse.

Catch-22

In response to this post ....

I recieved the following, as GOOD reputation....

Bush Senior was acyually a pretty good leader but biased as you are you will diss any republican and praise any democrat. Sam L who has liberal views does not view all of one side lousy and all on the other side good.

I'm not sure what to make of it. In my post, I was definitely suggesting that Bush, Sr made a wise decision. The poster seems to concur, but then says I diss 'any' republican. last I checked, Bush, Sr was a republican.

And I have NO idea how Sam L comes into it. I'm a bit baffled here, which doesn't often happen.. It's not important or anything, but it's not often I get insulted for agreeing with a republican position. Of course, I haven't thought much of any republican since Nixon.

Would you be playing the violin if someone you knew was in Iraq...or vice versa your'e family were killed by friendly fire? You show a maturity level standard of a lab-rat when you have a new emoticon.

Volcana!!! As per my rep for you, it's nice to see a poster that refuses to turn on a dime. ;)
