Who has the best serve ?

In grass it is more important to have a good serve so who do you think has a great serve s¿

Venus Williams, I think. Also Sharapova's is pretty handy too

Serena, then Masha.

venus's first serve is brill when fireing and so is maria's solid first serve and very good second too!

I think that ALG is developing a good serve, too. Petrova is on top of that list, too.

Venus? You're freakin kidding me? She can hit a lot of fast ones on her first serve, but her second serve is horrible for 1.88m (or there about). She doesn't have a very good technique to get the most out of her height.

I'd say Serena has the best serve followed by Lindsay.

Serena Williams at her best, but her serve the last few years hasn't been quite what it used to be. Lindsay Davenport's serve, when on, is incredible too.

Sharapova and Venus

You're only as good as your second serve. ;)
So either Serena (though not as impressive the last couple of years) or Lindsay very closely followed by Alicia.

Patty has one of the best serves on tour, but her suckyness on grass negates her advantage. If only she would serve and volley. :(

Serena at her best is the UNDISPUTED SERVE CHAMP (well she's the BEST EVER, when @ 75%, but that's another discussion). She has GREAT disguise, and she serves EXCELLENTLY under pressure. Venus' first serve is SO deadly, but her 2nd is getting better, but still attackable. Lindsay has the second most techinally sound serve and is really consistent, but the pace has dropped off as of late, and players are reading it with more ease. Alicia gets LOTS of aces and has a great kicker, but I haven't seen her serve well in pressure situations. Maria's serve is like wheat bread. Good, but not spectacular. She does what she needs to do, hits big, gets a good % in, but I mean, it's pretty simple, but sometime's that's better. Nadia has a great serve as well, but it tends to go off at times when she's not 100% (mentally OR physically)

stosur and molik both have great serves not only variety but both 1st and 2nd serves are good, they've got placement and they've got the extra speed up their sleeve if they want to use it. also they're serves are really sound technically. as for most effective it would be serena's first, davenport's is pretty handy, venus has a decent 1st serve, sharapova's is solid, not the fastest but usually has pretty good placement. ALG has a big serve as does nicole vaidisova, petrova has a good serve as well. krajicek also has an effective serve, haven't seen it since hopman cup but she has great placement, enough power, 2nd serve is also good.

Imo, Stosur and Molik. Top players are prob Masha, Venus, Lindsay, Mary, Serena (when she decides to comeback), and Nadia. I remember a few years back when really only Lindsay, Venus, and Serena were the only players that their serves were worth even mentioning. It has changed quite a bit in the last couple of serves.

On grass... :scratch: Serena and Venus' 1st serve serves are the best. 2nd serves.. :scratch: Serena's and Sharapova's, very hard to attack. Especially Serena's :eek: A lot of action :drool:

I absolutely forgot about Nicole. Her first and second serve remind me of Serena in 2002. Great variety, placement, and pace on the first serve and tons of kick on the second.

Im just curious to know if youve ever seen Tszeta play? :shrug:. Her serve is pretty much up there with Elena. I mean when its in its good because youre not expecting it or where it will go.

Alicia I think when she is fit has the best serve... it'll be interesting to see if she can get it back.

I'm also interested in seeing how Misa's serve goes on grass... when I saw her in Australia I felt like her serve was made for grass (the second serve doesn't kick that much, but is huge)

Serena in her good days had the best serve for sure. Both first and second are brilliant. Now Venus has a good irst serve but the second isn't nearly as good. She did work on it the last couple of years, but it definitly still can get improved. As for the rest Molik's and Petrova's serve are extremly good too. So I consider Serena, Molik's and Petrova's serves as the best on tour followed by Venus' and Maria's serves. Meanwhile Justine serve has become better and better this season but it needs to be more consistent.

I can't see what's so wrong with that... Navratilova said the same thing at the Aussie Open last year, though she may have just been caught up in the hype.

I think a lot of women have equally good or better first serves than Alicia, but she also manages to win cheap points with her second serve, and that's the key in my opinion.

Krajiceks serve is very effective on grass. On other surfaces it's enough for journeywomen but top players don't have trouble with it . Her first serve is often around the 100 MPh so it's not fast but excellent placement.

Pierce and Ana (when she's on) have deadly serves as well.

I've never seen someone serve as good as the Serena of the old days. It was so impressive. She somehow managed to everytime have the same toss and service motion, yet the ball could land anywhere in the service box, with power and/or placement, and with the spin she wanted.
It was so difficult to read her serve but it was so good technically.
Probably not as kicked or powerful as Venus', not as fluid as Davenport's, but definitely the best.

And whats wrong with that? Alicia has a great serve and will be a great weapon when she gets back on track. She gets alot of aces and they're all very fast

Sammy and Alicia have the best serve's. I think Austin said at Aus open that Sammy has the best second serve and Alicia has the best first serve.

Well I think Lindzs serve is best on grass...Its not tooo hard but paced with accurate placement...If only she cud move faster...
