Switzerland better line up their big guns (Schnyder / Hingis) for this tie or else it will be a certain loss

If the Swiss dont have Hingis or Schnyder, I sense a whitewash for them.

like it matters who Australia nominates - they are going to win regardless.

Hingis and Schnyder have a deal with each other that neither one of them plays Fedcup. That leaves Switzerland with Baczinsky (#188) and some unranked junior for every tie. They will be down in the zonal divisions with Ivory Coast and Turkey after this.

True  What's the reasons for it? I know Schnyder and Gagliardi had a bit of a falling out (I think over Patty just playing when she felt like it), how is Hingis involved?

Either way, Im never confident with the Aussies in Fed Cup. We've lost the unlosable over the years

If this is on clay would've been nice for them to pick Sophie Ferguson over Nicole Pratt. Anyway certainly our strongest team for a while.

Timea could score an upset, she certainly wants it enough. Other than that though I don't think the Swiss could do much. If Timea managed to win 2 singles matches (unlikely, but not impossible), I can't see the Swiss winning doubles or anyone else winning a singles match.

neither Patty or Martina want to play Fedcup.

The only thing that could really force them to play, would be if one of them unexpectedly decided to do it, which would put a lot of pressure on the other to join as well. So i'm pretty sure they have got a pact between themselves on this.

i don't know if that planned out. Patty played Fed Cup consistently her whole career until the captain picked Gagliardi instead of her for the deciding doubles against Spain a couple of years ago.

Hingis stopped playing after they lost the 98 final.

a good team

The swiss teenagers fought hard against Japan, Vogele took a set off Nakamura and is quite good. I hope they also pick Manu Gagliardi :yeah:

So Spain is at the root of all the trouble for the Swiss team ;)!

Without Schnyder or Hingis they will lose to Australia, I am not sure what kind of disaster it would take for the aussies to lose...

I think it was you who Posted Patty said she wants to play in the '08 Olympics. I know there's some minimum amount of recent Fed Cup competition required 2B eligible. Does anyone know how much she'd have to play FC to go? (And China is so big that maybe Rainer would get lost there). ;)
