Just remind yourself that all theses wins and losses are about other peopleís lives, that you have chosen to be loyal to. If you let yourself become VERY VERY depressed about a playerís losses, then I think itís about time you started to detach yourself a little. Lindsay did experience great disappointment and maybe depression, but like most top players, she is a rich woman, possibly happily married and has other things to keep her happy. Sheís been successful. Itís her life, her work. Same goes for Hingis and Justine, and Venus and whom ever.

Detach yourself a little. The best player of the tournament will win. If Hingis canít beat Justine Ė Justine deserves the win. If Ivanovic canít beat Amelie, Amelie deserves the win. If player X is making 20000000 errors, they deserve to lose, and the other player is better.

Happens a lot with us sports fans, we get too involved and too emotional. Just watch for great tennis.

I remember after last years final - I was over at Wimbledon and was completely gutted. We went to the Royal Tennis Association BBQ that night and I couldn't eat a think and kept getting tears in my eyes, I honestly thought I would never be able to watch another tennis match again! A few weeks later though and I was back watching again and don't think I missed a match at the US Open. Was so disappointed when Lindsay missed the French but still went and even though Wimbledon won't be the same this year we're heading over to London in a few days time. We are the hardcore on here and feel it more than most but feck it we still follow our favs and even without them we should always keep up the support of womens tennis. Who else from here is heading to Wimbledon?

lindsay's painful defeat? she has had many at the slams over the last couple of years, not just at wimbledon. obviously the last 2 wimbledons she's been pretty close but there's also been some tough losses at AO (against serena) and the us open (sveta, although being effected by injury). most of them she should have won those matches and the AO one would have meant a slam title and the us open one would have put her into the final but would have put her up against dementieva as the favourite in the final and of course the loss to sharapova in 2004. since the knee operation she's never really fully recovered mentally, she just hasn't been able to pull of the big matches on the big stages. it's disappointing that lindsay hasn't been in the mix with slam wins lately, she really should have won more slams than she has to date.

Are Lindsay's fans more bitter when she loses to a williams or when she loses period. Quite frankly lindsay had no business losing the QF at the USO to elenaD esp after she had m,atchpoint. the path to the title was clear for her, I belive she could have taken care of mary and then kim, she had after all beaten her twice before. The slams are not only won in a final, but at every step.
Cruisepops, if you are a tennis fan then the next couple weeks should be great, but if you are a lindsay fan first, then your days are numbered.

I am really sad that Lindsay won't be here .... really sad.
BUT, let's look at all sorts of interesting positives ....

1 - Amelie could win, hopefully legitimately .. and her versatility on different surfaces will be substantiated.
2 - Kim could win and add to her fast-court Slam collection.
3 - Justine could win, making her a bonafied (sp) 'great' of all time (acquring all 4 slams). I am not thrilled to see if this happens, but let's face it, the girl is good.
4 - Maria could win her second W. She's a strong competitor who goes deep in most tournaments and she will deserve it if she wins.
5 - Venus can continue her W domination and claim her 6th slam ... REALLY creeping out of Serena's shadow.
6 - Someone young and up-and-coming could win (a la Sharapova) and take the world by storm.
7 - Kuznetsova, Myskina, Dementieva could surprise and take it all.
8 - Martina can use grass to her advantage and make life miserable for her competitors on her way to a second W.

There's lots of things that can happen, I'm looking forward to the next 2 weeks. :-)

Lindsay will be sad if she knows her fan not going to support women's tennis because she misses a tournament.
Lindsay always fights for equal pay and always be there for fans and WTA if they need.

When I make a decision, I always imagine that what's Venus or Serena's thought on this. So I am trying to be graceful after I lose a table tennis match or a badminton match.
Do you think she will be happy if she knows that?

I like your way of thinking. Sometimes, when I see a 2006 Mazda-6 sitting in the street, with the keys in it and nobody around, I think to myself "now, what in the f*&K would Justine do"?

Don't you injoy tennis for what it is?
Does your fav have to win in order for you to injoy the process?
I'm sure you'll come around and watch a few matches.
It's in your blood :)

You conveniently forget that Wimby 05 was her first slam win in 4 years, she was as a whole not impressive in 03 & 04, and was bounced out of Wimby 04 in the second round. But enjoy the high, a big dose of reality will be coming to you shortly... ;)

Did you even watch Wimbledon '03?? She re-injured her stomach in the semi final against Kim and still won the match.. She got to the final against Serena and made it a 3 setter. She hasn't been the same since  And what dose of reality are you babbling about? People who speak crap without facts annoy my ass :tape:

You are going to be even more annoyed after she loses.... ;) Again, no impressive seasons for years, bounced out of Wimby 04 in the second round. Trying to connect the 05 win to her glory past doesn`t work logically. And she was foruntate to have Maria and Lindsey there to blow opportunities. Just doesn`t add up, there are your facts... ;)
