View Full Version : Does Clijsters have the belief?

I love watching Clijsters play but I am starting to wonder if she has the belief in herself when she plays JHH on the bigger stages.

They are actually tied head to head at 10-10 which just feels weird to me. I feel like JHH has dominated the series which is obviously not true unless you put more weight into her slam wins against Clijsters (which I think one should)

Kim is starting to play well again, and although I do not consider JHH a true grass court player I think she has enough game to win the Big W coming up. I would love to see Kim win it, but Kim would have to face JHH in the SF. I would like to see them both get to that point in the tournament, but if they do, does Kim C have the confidence to beat JHH on the big stage?

I feel like her belief in general, let alone against JHH, has evaporated since her title run in Flushing Meadows. It's like she got her slam and shut down. Injuries have taken their toll, but still...

It's really like Kim has finally realized that Justine is the better Belgian on every surface except hard courts. I don't know why but it just seems like Kim doesn't even care about Roland Garros or Wimbledon. She just pushed them out of her mind. It looks like she's focused on the hard court slams though. She played at half her movement for most of the Australian.
I just don't get it though. She came in injured at Roland Garros last year and seemed dedicated to give it a try. She wasn't fully a hundred percent at Wimbledon but still looked focused. What has happened with her in the last year?

That is a good point. She very well could have gotten over the help and took too big of a breath and relaxed. Time will tell, she has the game to win more titles. I would like to see her be more than a 1 slam wonder.

I think the US hardcourt season will be telling. She can beat anyone on this surface, and she should feel good considering her success last year.

I still have it in my head regardless of Kim's last two losses that she is a better player than Justine.

But what proves me wrong most of the time is the fact it's Justine that goes for broke and stays agressive whether she is down or up in the match.

Perhaps it's a mental thing for Kim when she faces Justine, who knows.

i feel like a lot of it is gone. she's just not the same player this year that we saw last summer. i don't know what happened, but it seemed to go downhill at the year-end championships.

JHH has nerves of steel, that is for sure!

I've always felt that Justine had/has more game than Kim. It just took Juju's game longer to develop. I always felt that Justine fitter then Kim and more dedicated for the long haul. Infact Justine plays aggressive and with her natural net ability and shots that will continue to be a hazard to Kim's playing style. Who continues to sit back and plug away until the pigs fly. Kim had the advantage early on because of Juju's nerves but there is no turning back in the head2 head. Justine has developed her game and her mental game and the matchup is no longer in Kim's favor. Kim doesn't go out there playing Juju with a different strategy.

I also think that Kim was playing to gain a goal. To win a grandslam. Now that she won the US Open she lost a bit of drive and momentum. She has become complacent and imho has lost a bit of hunger for the sport. Imho it's like she is just out there playing but not really into tennis like she use to be.

Kim is crap now. I think she is so under pressure to win another slam.. Especially the yucky J2H is in same side of her draw all the time.

I wonder is she is putting extra pressure on herself since she says she will retire in 2007.

i hate kim for losing to justine in big stages over again... i don't like her attitude lately... i mean, most of the year! really... i'm looking for a rebound... and i think it's gonna be in wimbledon... if she and justine gets to the semis, we'll see what she can do!...

Uh, didn't Justine beat Kim in the finals of two grand slam hard court tournaments????
