"Justine's very tough to play on the grass; her slice stays so low. It's very hard to do anything with your shot an her serve was very difficult to break. It was a bit like playing Lindsay Davenport today, not with the power on her strokes, but how few chances you get."

:wavey: I miss you Lindsay!!! :wavey:

Agreed on that as well. I think this will be her first missed Wimby, right? Linds was made for grass court tennis.

But very high compliments to JHH on grass.

She missed 2002 too due to her knee surgery. Come back strong, Linds!

Lindsay first missed Wimbledon in 2002 after injuring herself in the YEC while fighting for the number one ranking against Kim.

Umm... Justine served well but Kim had many chances to break her.
It was exactly the type of match she usually loses: leads 30-0 or 30-15, then quickly loses the game.

Kim is very sweet :)

I remember at one point in the match today, Justine's serve crashed into one of the line judges and Kim turned around and asked if she was ok, I'm not a fan of her playing style, but as a person :worship:

Kim often talks about how Justine doesn't have that much power.....personally I think some of that is her trying to dismiss the notion that a smaller girl like Justine really does push her around the court with power, if you watch their matches it's quite obvious that Justine really DOES push Kim off the ground, whether she admits it or not.

Gooooood, I miss Lindsay so much. I wanted her to win Wimbledon this year. I'd even have rooted for her against Martina in the final. Lindsay just deserved one more Slam.

It's funny to think if Davenport had been "hot", she be one of the most famous athletes ever.

I agree, Justine dictates most of the time.

Justine is more aggressive but Kim hits harder. Justine can hit as hard as Kim but she varies up the speed of her shots. Kim hits hard all of the time. What that gives Justine is the ability to switch it up and suprise Kim with the odd seriously hard serve/return. Justine likes playing against Kim now that she's figured out that Kim's pace is consistent and fairly predictable. (Sometimes Kim mixes it up a bit and that tends to be when she does well against Justine - if she had a coach, I bet he/she would tell her to do it more.)

I did see kim use a few slices here and there and her volleys were good on some of the tougher low volleys. a few passing shots or overheads were still too tough for kim but she did produce some great drop shots, lobs, inside out forehands, etc. Kim's serve is still not a weapon and not placed that well. Justine is playing so well kinda like a Lindsay who gives you no breathing room on grass.

As you know I was at Eastbourne all week and watched practice matches of Justine :hearts: Kim and Amelie and as I told you in my report, there is a guy there who practices with all of them.

Remember what I told you he said about who hits the hardest and who's balls are the most difficult to get back and return? That's right Justine :worship: .

I asked him, "out of all the girls you've practiced with this week, Justine, Kim and Amelie, who hits the hardest ball and who's is most difficult to get back". He thought about it for a moment and said "Justine, because not only are they powerful, but they have extra spin and intensity on it and it's much more difficult to return that sort of shot than Kim and Amelie's".

I was also shocked.

Kim is praising her rivals in a way that makes herself feel better:p
Lindsay out of Wimbledon, isn't a story at all, cos even if she was there with a bulging disc, she wouldn't do much. The main concern is her injury!

I think Justine showed "real grass court tennis" today, more so than a Davenport, or a Williams sister, or Sharapova does! They don't really play grass court tennis!
