Why is Vania King in this list? She is American.

Likhovtseva or Sharapova are more Asian than her

I think Sun, Sugiyama, Nakamura, Tanasugarn, Li will win. Maybe Morigami, Mirza and Zheng too.

btw, you put Keothavong and King in the list, so you can add Tu!

In that case, shouldn't Meilen Tu be on the list too? :tape:

I wonder what the record is for number of Asians in the MD of a GS? 14 here...

Pierce I realise that in America; Chinese, Japanese etc. are grouped together as a race but on WTAWorld Asia refers exclusively to the region, which is why you'll find Vania King's forum in the team USA category.

You forgot Lilia Osterloh. Her mom is a Pacific Islander/ Filipino which is considered asian decent ;) :bounce:

WELL THATS true. But just like Venus. Jam Jam, Mashona and Shenay are African Americans. These ladys ( lilia and vania ) are considered asian american . So they are partly of asian decent. This thread is just trying to celebrate the asian heritage of all kinds. So lets not be to polical. Its a positive thread about the asian community all over the world. That includes the US :D :bounce:

My thoughts:

Asian First Round Losers:
Medina Garrigues d. Hsieh
Dementieva d. Mirza
Molik d. Chan
Chakvetadze d. Yan
Henin-Hardenne d. Yuan
Sprem d. Keothavong
Kirilenko d. Asagoe

Asian First Round Winners:
King d. Vakulenko
Sun d. Vierin
Sugiyama d. Cavaday
Morigami d. Dushevina
Tu d. Bardina
Tanasugarn d. Castano

Could go either way:
Peng vs. Daniilidou
Nakamura vs. Bychkova
Li vs. Razzano
Zheng vs. Benesova

Well I guess it's not about continent but more about the way look which is shallow...

I guess people usually accept Israel as in Middle East rather than Asia.

I agree 100%

Its not about being a citizen...

Just like in RG, threads were being celebrated about the African Americans who have gone deep in the draw!

From the Above list, I wish One of Zheng, Shinobu & Tammy in the 2nd week!!!!
Its just unfortunate they are being lumped in the lower half of the bottom quarter...and Kim is
