Svets is the number 5 seed and is in the same quarter of the draw as Kim and Nicole so she has it pretty tough. Good luck Svets have a great tournament

Pretty tough opener and Li Na could be a tough third round as well. She will be tested all the way, i hope she will have some steam left in the tank after this week to play well.

Hopefully the extra day off will help her to recover more completely from eastbourne. I've bought the Wimbledon website subscription so hopefully will be able to see the match!

Go for it Sveta! She's way way worth more than 6th in the world!

She looked uncomfortable, distressed and unhappy out there. We know there is an abdo problem....I just hope it's not going to be anything serious.

I kind of wondered if this would happen - at least she can concentrate on doubles where she's defending a boatload of points.

Bad luck Sveta - put it behind you and look forward.
She's still the very very Special K!

It was heartbreaking to see her struggling out there! 1st set seemed easy...same as last match....then it's as if the pain sets in and she just can't move. Bad for us but think how much worse for her! She's a fighter and a hard worker - she's going to be gutted!

Well last week at Eastbourne Amelie seemed well below par and Sveta carried the doubles to a great degree....this week let's hope Amelie can come up to scratch and help her friend in return.

Thankfully there is a break after Wimbledon if I remember correctly - Sveta needs to get rested and get that abdo sorted out before it becomes something serious.

I don't think she should play the week before a major.
She took off before Miami and RG.

Mauresmo loses early at Sydney and Eastbourne for a reason.
A long week before a major is too draining,
physically & mentally

You know something....I think you are right! I had thought about that with early losses for Amelie in the warmup weeks....but it's something I never dared give a voice to!

Sveta's still young, this pacing of herself is something she'll learn, and for her it won't be easy...she's such a fighter and so competitive.

Sveta looked tired even at Eastbourne coming off that Final at RG - and after I'd got over the fact somebody (Myskina) beat her - I was very pleased she didn't have to face Henin again.
The girls lifting that lump of silver in the doubles Final made up for everything - it was well earned and well deserved! I STILL cannot get over navratilova's half painted on smile....my god that was such an effort!!!!!! I guess Sveta and Amelie have seen it, and I am thinking they will have died laughing like we did!

Im in shock, she is a better player than Li and should have won. O well she is still in the doubles and she can take heart in the fact that she wasnt the only upset of the day.

Her singles draw was very tough.
This is not a major setback.
It's a message to Sveta
and she'll come back better than ever
