Everyone talk about Venus,Maria,JHH, Kim, even Amelie...People consider Nadia as an excellent clay-courter, but what about on grass??

After all, she serves extremly well, returns very well, move quite well, has a honest volley, is consistent..What do you guys think about it?I think she can have a good shot if she's in shape

only if her serve is on, i think she played venus a couple of seasons ago at wimbledon in the 3rd or 4th round and a lot of people thought nadia had a good chance but she got thrashed. i haven't seen her play probably since AO this year and i didn't see her much there anyway so not sure whether she's improved or just become more consistent match to match but i'm not sure her groundies are penetrating enough on grass against players like venus, maria, serena, davenport. she has a well rounded game and has a great serve and definately can volley so she should be able to get to the 2nd week, not sure how much further past the QFs she can get though.

But Petrova is definitely not the same..Plus,Venus was on fire, she played her best tennis ever during this edition of Wimbledon, and Nadia is not the only good player trashed by the fucking Venus Williams...
Ok,her groundstrokes are not as penatrating than Williamses' Lindsay or MariaS but I find she is more consistent, she places them well and very long, always long..She comiits less errors no?
It depends on her draw but I think she can beat everyone if she's totally recoverd except Venus and Maria, maybe

Since she will go in with no warmup tournament i would say no plus there are more women in the draw who hit the bell better and harder and she has lapses plus its not even sure if she'll play at this moment with her pulling out of eastbourne

She could be, but I don't think she'll do much this year considering her RG exit, an injury, pulling out of Eastbourne etc.

Her "injury" is mostly due to her nerves no?She's not really injured to my mind..She just need some rest to relax and forget clay season

Well, she was definitely hampered by an injury during RG, but I was certainly surprised she pulled out of Eastbourne (considering she said she went early to train on the grass). I guess we'll just have to see!

if you are talking about venus playing her best tennis ever tennis at wimbledon being last year then that may have been true but i don't think the match i was referring to was last year, i think it was the year before (can't remember). at that time petrova i think was coming off a good run. i didn't mean her groundies aren't as penetrating as the williams sisters or sharapova or davenport, although that is true, what i actually said was i don't think her groundies are penetrating enough for the those players (i wasn't comparing how penetrating hers were compared to the others i was saying that i don't think on grass they are effective enough for her to be able to beat those players), meaning they should be able to deal with them.

I think if she has any chance she needs to pull from the good memories of winning 3 clay court titles this yr 2 of them being tier 1 and beating the RG champ JHH in one of them

No no,I'm refering to the 2003 Edition, when Petrova has just reached the semies at RG...
Ok,I understood what you're meaning..So Petrova can disturb the grass queens like Maria and co. ...Actually I never saw her playing on grass so I can't admitt anything..I was just wondering and supposing..You're maybe true

Yeh,it's all about confidence..i think she didn't lose all the confidence accumulated these recent mounths so it's possible

Veterans typically do better on grass...and Nadia qualifies as a veteran. Once players figure out how to play on grass (i.e. Sanchez-Vicario, Martinez) they become threats even if they have games that aren't built for grass. I think Nadia falls into this category. She has a nice net game too. I think she'll probably fall short of her seeding, but has the potential to threaten top seeds.

I think Petrova should have a game very conducive to grass. Very good serve and she is proficient at the net as well.

Hmmm...Nadia is the type of player who can do the best or the worst in a day...but on grass, she's very consistent, yes! She has one of the best serve on tour, and her doubles career shows that she's a great volleyer and runner too! So she is good on grass yeah...but I think Nadia plays well everywhere...she has reached the last 8 in every Grand Slams and won title on different surfaces...her problem is that it's a Grand Slam and she's often shy agaisnt top seed like Sharapova, Clijsters, Hénin etc...so why not ? But for this Wimbledon, she hasnt warmed up in any tournaments on grass this year because of her injury, so we can't know at all is she'll be okay...at least, she hasnt withdrawn, so let's hope good things!

I just don't think she is quite mentally tough to win wimbledon..
she'll have to claw her way past other players who would kill or die for the title (see Venus, Maria and Justine..) and I don't see her doing that.

I don't see her winning Wimbledon. But she can beat anyone in the draw
on any surface.
She just hasn't done it at the majors

If she plays and has an easy draw early on...maybe she can do some damage.
