My gosh. I cldnt believe it when I saw it. I just hope she is fit & its just the lack of match play that is hurting her. Seems like the grass season wldnt be a walk in the park for maria this year.

No, she has the Roddick syndrome. People have figured out her game. It usually takes a couple years and they catch on. The same thing has happened to Maria, Look at Blake beating Roddick today after having an 0-6 career record against him.

Maria get focused for Wimby, they will not hand it to you.

For some reason, I am ready for Venus vs. Justine. It's been WAY TOO LONG.

Maria will get it together. She will have matches under her belt on grass. Tough loss girl! Congrats Jamea Jackson (USA). :woohoo:

Maria is focused. It just wasn't a good matchup. It seems to me that the grass at Birmingham is just better for counter-punchers. You really can't say the same for the grass at Wimbledon on the ladies side.

Uh Huh. Maybe Justine can learn something from Jamea then. She needs to get her first serve percentage in the high sixties to make that happen. She also needs to flatten out her backhand like she did when she beat Capriati in the semifinal.

I got a question. Why all the Maria fans almost have some suicide thoughts were she lose a match? Sorry to say that but it's just sport. She probably played well (according to stats), but Jamea must have had a day of her life today. And no - I'm not a Maria hater.

Maria should just focus on what went wrong in this match for the next few days and try and put right her errors in training..
Everyone has a bad day every now and again, atleast she didn't do this in a Grand Slam 1st Rd!.

Maria does not have an easy time with African-American players who enjoy her power game. her game usually plays into their comfort zone. :)

I was talking about Justine??? What she has to do to make a Venus/Justine final possible. We already know what Venus has to do so I don't even know what you're talking about.

Uhhh, did you read post??? Did I say that James plays powerfully?? no! I said MARIA plays powerfully which is what many African-American (and American players in general) enjoy playing against.

my posts do nothing to indicate that I did not original post! I agree that it is a great day for 2 african americans in particular. On the other hand I asked you if you read my post because you put words in my mouth indicating to me that you apparently did not read my post!:p;)]

anyways, rock on JAMEA AND JAMES!!! :hearts::bounce:

James is a better player than Roddick. He has more game than him and he just found confidence. I knew yesterday that Blake would finally beat Roddick.

yeah I think thats kinda what she has....they both got their 1 grand slam and kinda been struggling since then. I think she will do better at Wimbledon...she loves that tournament...and she will put up a better fight.

I hope so, and I need her and Venus to be on opposite sides of the draw this time!!! So it would be a worthy final if so...

Hahahaha. You make it seem that Venus is a Capriati on grass. You also make it seem that Jamea would have beaten Venus Williams if it were Vee instead of Sharapova that was playing. Just because the tall white chic got beat by Jamea doesn't mean that Venus would have gotten beat. If yah ask me if it were Venus playing she would have beaten Jamea and without coaching.

Justine is a threat on grass. What she needs to do to beat Venus is get Venus out of position and hit some low volleys to make Venus bend her knees. Serve well and get to net or play an attacking style. She also needs to keep Venus away from her backhand, because Venus's exposes it when she hits it deep in the corner. When Juju has to hit the backhand deep in the corner she usually gives a short ball back to her opponent.

What she needs to do to make Masha S. Move on the grass and she has a good shot. Where as Vee can move quicker and faster. She has to change her gameplan. Especially from the past matches that they have played.
