Sorry guyz for not being here that often to support Kiri, but the university needs my full attention these days. Its good to see Maria playing one grass tourney before Wimbley. She absolutely needs this to find her form on this surface. Her draw doesn't look that bad so I think that she's able to reach the semis. Hopefully against Lena D. Good luck Makiri!

In doubles, Kirilenko/Ivanovic def. (3) Daniilidou/Medina Garrigues 7-5, 6-4

:)

I think the two of them can win this doubles draw.

She lost?? NOOOO! That's a real shame for her. Hopefully she'll go far in the doubles as it will at least be matches on grass.

Really bad loss to a player who doesn't usually do very well on grass. Not a good tuneup for Wimbledon at all. Maria needs to regroup quickly and play with confidence. I hope she can pick it up a bit for Wimbledon because if she doesn't, she is gonna be gone real quick

Ana and Maria won their second round doubles match today 61 63. With only 16 teams in the draw, they move on to the semifinals. Likely against Elena D/Flavia P.

The two nice doubles wins stand in stark contrast to the singles result.

She reached the quarters at Wimbledon in 2004 losing to Mauresmo in 3 sets. She was a Top 20 player in '03 and '04 before a hip injury ended her '05 campaign just after Roland Garros. So, though Suarez is ranked only #516, she's no slouch by any means. Perhaps you could say that Makiri again got a rough draw! It seemed so promising when we saw that she drew a qualifier in the first round. Unfortunately, this qualifier is an experienced former Top 20 player with grass court success. Maybe Makiri will be described as such in the future, but not just yet.

Why is Suarez so low in the rankings, Maria should have beat her even though she has had success in the past :(

On the brighter note,
Good luck in Doubles Rd 3 Maria :worship: :bounce:
