Who will win?

dagamezbest
Jun 16th, 2006, 08:14 PM
I say Jamea because she will try and find a way to make every point a track meet which will give her the advantage because Sharapova is not a good mover. If she can figure out how to do that I say Jamea in 3 if not, Sharapova will win in 2, but I give the edge to Jamea as of right now.

nope maria to win for sure! she has the best grass court record ever and im not messing here read this!

Meanwhile, Maria Sharapova kept up her hopes for a third consecutive DFS title after victory over Mara Santangelo.

The world number four cruised to a comfortable 6-2 6-2 win in 67 minutes to maintain her new-found status as the sport's most successful player - in percentage terms - on grass.

Sharapova has now won 34 of 37 matches on the surface for a winning percentage of 91.9%, with her run in this week's tournament taking her past the previous best mark held by Steffi Graf of 91.5%

the proofs there maria wont lose to jackson!

Maria actually is one of the best movers in the top ten, if you count the first two sets and not the third. Again Venus underestimated Maria's movement at Miami last year and paid for it with a lost. She does still have some stamina issues in a third set though. I think Jamea can do it but it's going to be tough. She needs to not get down on herself. She needs to finish points at net. She needs to have her first serve percentage in the high sixties. Jamea moves great but he also has some stamina/fitness issues as well. I've seen her many of time get cramps in her thighs deep in a match.
I still think Jamea can do it though.

Sorry but Maria is NOT one of the best movers in the top ten. Shes not that bad at moving side to side but pull her forward and use short angles its a big mess (just ask Justine,Kim, and Venus). Maria def isnt as slow as people would like you to believe but she has no footwork which gets her into trouble when she plays ppl that can hurt her... with that being said Jackson wont be the person to beat her tomorrow maria 6-2, 6-3.

That being said, I HOPE Jamea pulls it out (1, 2, 3, 5 sets...I don't care, as long as she wins, not that I don't like Masha [check the sig], but I really want Jamea to get a big win to boost her confidence). I think it'll go 3

Thats before Venus reaized what she had to do against Maria ... she was trying to slug from the baseline and thats just not a winning stragie. They played at wim and maria got worked and then in an expo and Maria got worked again. Maria is a great player but she will continue to lose to the same players until she decides to either get footwork or a plan B.

It's been a great week for Jamea but I think Maria is too strong and solid right now. However!!! I think Jamea could make things interesting by trying to test how that healthy Maria's ankle really is.

Jackson could be on to something if Maria's movement is suspect. Problem is, Maria will be on the offensive from the onset so Jamea better do something early on before it's too late.

Maybe. Maybe not. She's played Jamea before and the matchup just isn't a good one. Jamea plays Maria like Myskina use to play her, well when she was pretty good. :tape: She doesn't give her too many openings and Jamea can be out there pretty much forever. Wow, and people say the Williams fans are arrogant. Maria fans take it to another whole different level. :clap2:

Sure, 23 people really thought Jamea would win in straights

These polls should close once the match has begun :o

:haha: I never vote in these polls until after the matches--now many are doing the same

 They should be closed. I though Jamea would win in three but she had Maria a little drained at the middle of the second set. The grass at Wimbledon compliments the aggressive gamestyles of the women players.
