Congrats Jamea. It excuses a little bit Jankovics loss against her. Jamea seems to play really good this week.

I think tommorrow will be the first day that Sharapova is tested. Jackson hasnt been falling over to players lately and she should give Maria a good match. She played well against Maria earlier in the year at Indian Wells. Hopefully she can make it competitive.

I think Jamea could win this whole tourni. In the last few years the grass at Birmingham seems to be working for the counter-punchers. Jankovic made the finals last year. Golovon made the finals the year before Jankovic. Meilen Tu, Jamea Jackson, and Vera Zvonareva are counter-punchers and semifinalist this year. It just seems a matter of time before Maria's reign at the tourni ends. Why not this year?

the only reason the counter-punchers do relatively well is because maria is the only big hitter who can control her unforced errors in the draw.
what makes you think maria's going to crash and burn this week when her matches are going even easier than they were last year?

Her matches SHOULD be going easier. She beat Santangelo who has a losing record on grass and was one of the victims of Martina Navritilova and her Eastbourne run in 2004. :tape: Then you have Na Li who played her first main draw grass tourni this week. I can't of course forget Asha Rolle who continues to get experience on the WTA tour. That really is a tough draw. Maria should be proud of taking out some premium grass contenders.
