Id say Europeons especially British because they trained in tough weather conditions throughout football seasons mostly in Autumn and Winter so it would make them tougher

No the African athletes are built like the Americans, however they don't have the conditioning and training that comes with American sports. Many football teams around the worls, copy the training techniques from the major sports leagues in the U.S. The U.S clearly has the best athletes in the world, but our soccer players lack the techinal skills now, but those are improving at a rapid speed. We're in a tough group, but I think we will advance TONI Meet GOOCH

America is a nation of immigrants, so no one is 100% American. Thats what makes America a unique country. We come in all ethnicities. FYI, America has 31 ethnic groups with atleast 1 million native citizens!

Your talking as if football depends on weather you have a good body all the players you have noted are average players and wouldnt get a place in any of the top europeon sides.

Also look at this guy he doesnt even make it into Englands world cup squad and the small guy behind him is in the squad!!
so obviously your size has nothing to do with things!

Well it's kind of expected the USA have lots of medals considering the population of the country. However if you'd count the medals in a relation by percentage of population you'd get completely different figures.

TeaMMashA

Lets Compare squad:

USA

Keller

Cherundolo Pope Onyewu Lewis

Dempsey Reyna Mastroeni Beasley

Mcbride Donovan

England

Robinson

Neville Ferdinand Terry Cole

Beckham Lampard Gerrard Cole

Rooney Owen

Beasley would find it very difficult getting past a professional like Neville down the Left side of midfield, Beckham would cause absolute havoc for Lewis at left back his hardly used to coming up against opposition like this. Ashley Cole would prove very difficult to beat for Dempsey as Cole is good in the tackle and quick and has kept players like Beckham and Christiano Ronaldo quiet in the past. Cherunoldo would be out paced and out classed against Joe Cole and left back. The central midfield of Gerrard and Lampard against Reyna and Mastroeni do i really have to explain. Mcbride and Donovan causing Ferdinand and Terry problems? Yeah rite give me a break and Rooney and Owen against Pope and Onyewu do i really have to explain again :lol:

According to this press release that landed on my desk few days ago it says that the USA has pretty much the same squad as in 2002.
12 of the players play in European teams and the rest of the players in MLS. One of the biggest and most important player is Landon Donovan. Also a lot of hope is put on the 22-year old Eddie Johnson.

New guide aims to erase 'ugly American' image

Don't be so loud. Listen. Dress up. Those are among the tips offered to US business executives traveling abroad in a new guide aimed at countering the nimage of the "ugly American".

Launched this month by a non-profit group concerned about mounting anti-Americanism worldwide, the "World Citizens Guide" has 16 suggestions designed to change the behavior of corporate America overseas.

The tips in the booklet, to be distributed to executives at major companies such as McDonald's, the Loews hotel chain and the software firm Novell, include:

- "Be proud of the American way, but remember it's not the only way";

- "Listen at least as much as you talk";

- "Save the lecture for your kids";

- "Speak lower and slower";

- "Think as big as you like, but talk and act smaller"; and

- "Dress up -- you can always strip down."

Keith Reinhard, founder of Business for Diplomatic Action (BDA), the non-profit group that created the pamphlet, said he hopes it will play a small part in reshaping the negative perception of Americans worldwide.

"While we are still admired for what people describe as our youthful enthusiasm, optimism and can-do spirit, we are seen as loud, arrogant and completely ignorant of cultures outside the US," Reinhard, who is chairman emeritus of the advertising firm DDB Worldwide, told AFP.

He said the suggestions in the four-page guide were compiled following a survey of people in some 96 countries.

"The responses were quite consistent across regions," he said. "The single word that came up more than any other single word was the word 'respect.'"

He said one frustrated respondent from New Zealand argued that if Americans were not willing to stop talking and listen, "would it be possible, perhaps, to dial down the volume?"

A German man wondered "how America could pretend to lead the world when it does't know anything about the world", and another said that "in globalizing the world, America forgot to globalize itself".

Reinhard said business leaders in Western Europe, and more particularly Germany, appeared to be the most frustrated with the behavior of their American counterparts.

Among their complaints was that American executives do not dress properly, are messy and are not always attuned to other countries' business practices.

He said one corporate executive in Duesseldorf was dismayed that employees of the retail giant Wal-Mart were encouraged every morning to recite a company cheer in a bid to build team spirit.

He said BDA has met with members of the US administration, including Karen Hughes, the under secretary of state for public diplomacy, and they are considering his suggestion that the booklet be given to every US passport holder.

A similar effort launched by the State Department shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States had little success.

Reinhard said that last year BDA also reached out to US students traveling abroad by distributing a 60-page citizens' guide offering tips similar to those in the guide launched this month.

He said he hopes to eventually compile a guide for leisure travelers.

In the meantime, he offers this advice for the 60 million Americans who travel overseas annually: "Slow down, listen and learn."

Well it isn't, cause I think there are around 20 europeans nations which have a stronger national team and then we have 6 team from South America and than Mexico. That makes 27 already. Than we go to Africa and we see teams which didn't make it to the world cup, but have a strong team. Like Cameroon and Nigeria, and also WC competitor Ivory Coast has a strong team so that makes 30. And than we have some outsiders like Japan and South Korea. ;)

The USA-Jamaica game was a pile of poo. Shoddy goals, poor defending, listless attacking and the US got rattled with the Yardie boys' physical presence :lol:

which doesn't bode well for the WC. They will lose to the Czechs and Italians from the difference in skill alone, but the Ghanian boys have some beef on them and will definitely out-muscle if not outplay them.

Tackling is a vital objective of the game! DUH!, and this guy wouldn't stand a chance in the NFL. As of matter of fact, AFL players really only fit in as punters and field goal kickers as they're too small to play an important position, and certainly not fast enough!

If you really think rugby players are as fast as NFL wide receivers then you're an idiot. I doubt any top flight soccerp player is as fast as the average NFL WR.

I dont think it i know it Tom Varndell an England winger is quicker then Asafa Powell and Justin Gatlin

Tackling is a vital objective of the game! DUH!, and this guy wouldn't stand a chance in the NFL. As of matter of fact, AFL players really only fit in as punters and field goal kickers as they're too small to play an important position, and certainly not fast enough!
get real...not fast enough :spit:

And btw, it's their sport to run and for Henry it's only a very small part of it.

It has exactly the same players for a long time the tour if not more with Hingis returning and breakthroughs of the younger players, If its not competitive why is there a constent change of Grand Slam winners and Tour Title Winners, its just because your American players are no longer dominant and your bitter if anything it was more boring during that time with same winner all the time
