For an old broad, she looks pretty good. Maybe she's like Cher, has had just a little bit of work done.

A guy called Raffaele Sarno from Italy ran the London Marathon a few weeks back.

He did it in 3 hours 15 minutes.

He's 86.

3 hours 15 sounds ridiculous, I suppose that's impossible. I know a guy named Ed Withlock form Canada who is 75 and ran just under 3 hours. And there is a guy from here also, Joop Rüter, he is around 75 as well and did it around 3 hours 10.

The Sarno you tolked about is classified in the Mens 45-50.

Bizarre. He was classed in the 80+ a few weeks back on the official website. I know because I double-checked it at the time and he was definitely there.

He also gets mentioned in various online news sources as being the oldest male runner. Here he is mentioned in The Times:

The oldest woman running will be Alma Kent, 88, and the oldest man Raffaele Sarno, 86.

Someone, somewhere has screwed up something.

Maybe the most hardcore old dude was Ulrich Inderbinen, the legendary Swiss Alpine guide.

He gave up mountain-guiding, at 97, when he realised he had taken ten minutes longer than he should have done to decend the Breithorn.

http://www.economist.com/people/displayStory.cfm?story_id=2787797

The Breithorn is 3,870 meters (12,700 feet) tall. Imagine guiding other people up mountains that high when you're 97. Retirement age of 65 was mid-career for Ulrich.

He celebrated his 90th birthday by climbing the Matterhorn in four hours for what was estimated to have been at least the 370th time.
