View Full Version : What Martina Can DO for Poor Swiss Whites...

Cybelle Darkholme
May 23rd, 2002, 12:25 AM
Martina with all her fame and glory should reach out to the poor swiss white children! How dare Martina not do anything to help the poor unfortunates of her adopted homeland! Doesnt she care about the rampant misuse of language and poor dialect pronounciation of the children? Each dialect must be perfect no matter how many languages they speak!!!!

Lets not forget that she can be a shining example for them pick themselves up by their bootstraps and carry themselves with dignity but not in Italian shoes. Maybe she can start a clinic for proper etiquette during media interviews because the poor illiterate children should be ready for anything, including press conferences.

Lets not forget Martina's Mother, Dearest! She must by all means teach each and every Swiss child how to properly wear their hair and scowl appropriately with a sour look. Thats vital for success on the court as well as in life, it must be taught!

In her spare time Martina should also return to her native homeland and start a reeducation camp for ADD afflicted illiterate mute handicap children not yet in pre-school. That way she can get an early jump on saving them. Rember, the eary bird catches the worm.

Martina I will expect all of this and more because it is your obligation as a famous athlete to save you race now!

herdoto maybe you dont know what sarcasm is. Im responding to the oh so wise Toineffa.

Good one, cybelle!

This happens to me all the time! I start a 'tongue in cheek' thread and then everyone gets all nasty and talks about shit I didn't even bring up in my post. I think we don't spell out our humour enough, sound good?

Cybelle, darling, just because you attempted to be satyrical or clever doesn't mean this thread necessarily was.

It's amazing how some posters here think they are always "funny." Not meaning you always try to be a smartass Cybelle, just stating the fact.

Jakeev, darling, if my post indeed made people laugh then guess what honeybunch, it was funny. Who made you lord of all things funny? I didn't know I had to pass the Jakeev test to be considered in the least bit humorous. Humor is subjective, just because you dont find something funny doesn't mean it isn't, got it? Good.

I don't get it. Many of these same posters make a big deal out of Venus and Serena visiting inner cities and sponsoring tennis clinics. They make kind of a big deal out of their charitable appearances, themselves. What's was so wrong with the topic? It's the type of question Colin Powell and Jesse Jackson have asked. Tennis clinics seem to be one of their main interests but I don't think aiming those kids at a professional tennis career is such a great idea. The numbers are pretty bad.

Martina has worked for poverty-stricken and destitute kids for a long time, so the "payback" is kind of ludicrous.

Bella
May 23rd, 2002, 04:26 AM
Furthermore, I have seen Sixty Minutes profile an inner-city program like the one Toinefas asked about. It was started and run by black people. They addressed just those issues of diction, grammar, grooming, presentation, etc. Those programs were done with grants and charity money. They were tough. Come to class or you were out. Dress appropriately or you were called down. Pumps, no open shoes. White shirts, ties. Learn to present yourself in an interview. Shake hands with confidence. Practice in class.

Is this something only black people can talk about? Social services and welfare run these same types of programs for white people, black people and 'other'. It appears they can talk about the problem of poor people who need to learn the skills to get out of poverty, for any color person.

Bella
May 23rd, 2002, 04:29 AM
I still remember the black instructor drilling them on "ask, not aks". Diction. They see the problem. What does denying it do? Once again, black people defined the problem. Would you mock them, too?

AjdeNate!
May 23rd, 2002, 04:32 AM
I don't get your question, Bella. What are your aksing?

:) Sorry I had to go there!

Ahhhh Cybelle, Cybelle! LOL. :D

You see what you got yourself into! You spent all this energy thinking and typing away, and people just went past you and missed the whole point.

Maybe you should have tried The Slovak Republic, where I think Hingis is from, instead of Switzerland which is near the top of the ladder when it comes to income per capita and income distribution.

Oh well, keep up the spirit. :)

Shane 54 I totally agree

She's a great role model. And as for the question what can she do for the poor white swiss there's poor people everywhere and maybe she has given to charities.

FYI- Hingis is part of the World Health Oraganization.

One of the many things her support went to was a check for
$20,000.00 to an immunization program for infants in NEPAL.
You know Nepal. Home of Mt. Everest, the Himilaya's?. One of the poorest
countries in the world? Anyway. I visited Nepal in the
late and she's quite famous there for her generous support.
If your not aware- $20,000.00 in NEPAL is an immense
amount to them. Most people make about $10.00 a
month in NEPAL. The people are very lovely;but they live
in such poverty that I was actually shocked. It was like
something medieval.

Oh Bella, and Toineefa's thread wasn't ludicrous in spite of the great things that Venus and Serena have done for underpriviledged kids? Toineefa's thread was dumb as hell because she has no idea what Venus, Serena, and Oracene have done for the less fortunate, yet, she ignorantly made a list of things that they should do to help their race. Get some fucking knowledge about shit before you make stupid assed suggestions.

Ntosake
May 23rd, 2002, 12:00 PM
cybelle, it's painful, but I get it.;)

Listen people, this thread is just as stupid and stereotypical as the one Tooniefa started, and that is what I think cybelle is attempting here.

Of course Martina does a lot a good things for others less fortunate, c'mon everyone knows that! But so do the Williams, and other star athletes. No one should resort to insulting a whole race of people when similiar problems exist everywhere.

And some of you who are quick to jump at cybelle were amazingly silent in pooh-poohing the other equally offensive drivel coming from Toneefa.

Too bad we won't confront offensive things unless it involves our favorite.

Martina does. She has worked with young disabled children in Switzerland, she also works for WHO and the UN Teams Against Poverty for which she has visited underpriveliged people in Nepal, Indonesia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Columbia. She also takes part in the charity events at most of the tournaments she plays in such as Arther Ashe Kids Day and the Sydney International fundraiser for chuldren affetced by the bush fires. The list goes on...

Lol, very clever, Cybelle :D

Translation for those unclear on the concept - it's a JOKE, it's satire, it's SUPPOSED to be ridiculous! It's putting the shoe on another foot to show how foolish the whole thing is.

(although maybe she should do somthing about people who insist on wearing socks with sandals :o)

You tried to be a smart ass and it worked for some just not for me. But you did get your point across to the even bigger bozo of the post you are responding to. I give you credit there.
