I was surprised to see the way Anna Chakvetadze played last week in Warsaw and yesterday against Amélie at Berlin...she really improved, above all her serve has improved ! I remembered watching her playing against Karolina Sprem at Anvers last year and she wasn't really interesting but now...I think I'm gonna love her ! I love her new serve motion :o I think she's better than the Ivanovic or Golovin and will be the real top 10 pretender until the end of the year...
Keep an eye on her :wavey:

Golovin should not be mentioned along with the likes of Ivanovic. She is so overrated.

I am happy that Anna is gaining popularity. She deserves it. She has had moments of brilliance, for example beating Myskina when she was No.2 or 3, but Anna is now more consistent. Most importantly, she has very good court sense and plays smart, so her game is always enjoyable to watch.

Her serve was already pretty good last year, from the few matches I have watched.

Also, I believe that until recently Anna was a full-time student at Moscow University. So, she did not play the full schedule in the last few years. She seems to be devoting more time to tennis since late last year maybe that's why she is improving. Anyone knows if shs is still attending school or is taking a break?

I was told that Anna is independent. She travels on her own without a coach or a family member:eek: And she's just 19-years-old:yeah:

No she isn't, and she does deserve to be mentioned along with Ivanovic. In fact, she's better.
I think Chakvedatze has a bright future too. I can see her making the top 10 in the future.

If Amelie did a rotten match - because Anna caused it

Take a look at Anna and you can understand, why she advanced to the semis in Warsaw.

Yesterday, Amélie didn't need any help to do horrible unforced errors

but Anna is an interesting newcomer :p

Anna has long traveled with her cigar smoking loving dad, Djambuli. He is Georgian. AnnC has tremendous heart and desire, but maybe not enough weapons to crack top 15. A player you want to see against the good competition! She had a crushing razor close defeat at US Open in '05 versus double faulting Dementieva! Anna gives 100% and is not yet the prima donna!

She's doing okay. Getting more consistent.
She has given Sveta and Elena very tough matches

I saw her semi in Warsaw and i was sleeping during the match

I think the most important for Anna should be to survive for a long time in the top 30 and getting more consistent. When she is able to manage it, then she will get her chances for more.
Able to survive in the top 30 is absolutely more important than a quick rising in the top 20 or 10.
Look at Jelena Jankovic and Karolina Sprem

yea she just needs to stay consistent, saw her at this past US open and she looked great, her game was on, then i was worried about her for a while b/c i feared she would pull a jankovic, but now looks like she's back on track and I couldn't be happier for her!!!!!!!

Anna is improving all the time. Once she works a few more kinks out of her game she'll be even more dangerous. She had some excellent results last summer but hit a minor slump towards the end of the year. I think this led to a lot of people dismissing her at the start of this season; she has been quite underrated.

I bet the top players are happy Anna will be seeded at Roland Garros as I'm sure none of them fancy playing her in the first round.

I also recommend any new Anna fans to check out her thread here (http://www.wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=77769&goto=lastpost). :D

What exactly has Ivanovic done this year? Not much.

Anna seems to be one of the fastest climbers in the rankings at the moment. She definitely looks a lot stronger, and is getting some nice results.

The opposite is true. Anna and Tatiana is much better than Ivanovic the fattie.

I've always thought Chakvetadze is talented. I've only seen one match of hers, but I was impressed. I think she'll reach the top 20 for certain. Further? Who knows.
