to beat LenaD?

Martina is a great player but when I think about this matchup, I just have no idea what she can do to win, if Demented is on...If Lena is on it seems that she will beat everyone and she really gets excited and focused to play Martina! Can Martina do it and what does she need to do to beat ED??

I think Martina has to get more agressive, she was kind of agressive for example at the Australian Open, vs Kim she was moving the ball better, moving in, winning points at net, thatīs what Hingis needs to do, take her chances, otherwise she will get trashed because Demetieva will look to do the same thing, attack Martina.

Yes! I hope she isn't afraid to go to the net like with Venus!

High first serve percentage. Mixing it up with slices, spins, drop shots, etc. Keeping the ball as much away from Lena D.'s forehand as possible. Moving up to the net to cut off points. Not being content to just rally and run down balls. And hey, hoping Lena D. doesn't have her 1 good day would help.

Simply stay in the rallies and make Elena create the unforced errors :o Take the ball early, mix it up, and definitely attack that 30 mph serve :help:

No play this ridiculous counter punching moon balling game she has been of late and play like she did in Australia with great all court skills, varietyk tricky shots and also going for her shots and being agressive when its needed.

K...............I lied.............but Robby does look dreamy as always. Anyway, I smell an upset. I think Hingis is in good form and she will prove it tomorrow. Hingis has the type of game that I believe can break Lena down mentally, especially if her serve is not working.

Thank you ;)
I hope it isn't too early for Hingis, definitely not a morning person...I just noticed this is the first match on Centre Court tomorrow

Elena plays the modern version of Hingis's game. In reality, Hingis would have a better chance against anyone else. Elena is also fit which will play hell with Hingis trying to keep up.

Hingis should pray for 5 hour long rain delays spaced equally throughout the match. That's her best chance.

Hm no, i donīt see any similarity (beside a bad serving) between Elena and Martinaīs game.
Elena basically plays the same agressive game all the time, win or lose, you wonīt see much variation, and Elena is not that good at net as Hingis. Hingis is an all court player, thinking player, who relies more on tactics/spins/placement than on the pace of her shots.

have you seen dementieva play since 2004? her serve is not as slow as it once was.

hingis is going to have to serve/volley as much as possible (and do a damn good job at it) to beat elena.

I don't think serve and volley has anything to do with it. Marti just has to believe in her game again. She has every shot - she just has to execute on the day and be agressive and yes this may mean finishing a point here and there at the net. Elena for some reason really relishes playing Marti and always brings her A-game. Marti better be prepared to dish it back or she's outta there!

GO MARTI!!! :bounce:

But she certainly stepped it a notch or two with 22 winners, 24 errors in a two set match a lot better perfomance this week compared to her match against Venus when she had only 12 winners against a player in cramps .
