8 wild cards :

one for an australian player : Alicia Molik (?) if she doesn t have protected ranking and wants to play, or maybe Casey Dellaqua or Sophie Ferguson, depends on the winner of the mini tournament to receive the WC, a little hope for Jelena Dokic...

7 others very likely for french players :

I think the following players will get it with 100% certitude :

All french girls between 100 and 200 = Séverine Brémond (coming back from an injury), Stéphanie Cohen Aloro (clay isn t her best surace but she has won ITF Biarritz), Aravane Rezaï (for me in top 100 by the end of 2006 :bounce: ), Mathilde Johansson (in a slump but still #170)

Alizé Cornet (definitely the best french junior ) :bounce:

the last 2 : not sure, next players are Virginie Pichet, Pauline Parmentier, Aurélie Védy, Florence Haring, Julie Coin, Youlia Fedossova ad Mayline Andrieux

For me Virginie Pichet (good come back after injury, solid on clay) and Youlia Fedossova (promising talent) should receive the last spots

sad for Védy and Coin because they've improved thier game a lot, but Aurélie will receive a ticket for doubles I think and Julie will play qualies

French federaton has organized WC play-offs a few years ago but I don t think something will be this year

Last possibility : give the invitation to a rising star (Agniezska Radwanska, Anna Tatishvili...) or more likely to a former top player (Chanda Rubin?)

Roland Garros is coming :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I won t study anymore! :tape:

What do you think?????????????????????????????????????

Bremond and Cohen-Aloro got WC already so only 6 available

No way Pichet or Fedossova are going to get a WC ahead of Parmentier...her run at last US Open should be enough to grant her a spot in MD...

2 WC were made official yesterday...Bremmond and Cohen Aloro will be in MD.
Though not confirmed, is obvious that Alizé will get another one...same as Rezai and probably Johansson. Then my choice is Parmentier and last French WC will be either Pichet or Fedossova.

I think so, but don t know who...
Last year french Pauline Parmentier received one for Us Open qualies (and qualified + def Serra Zanetti in main draw!) and I think Jessica Kirkland was in FO qualies with a wc

Hampton got the USA wildcard this year. Will Kirkland get in qualies with her own rank?

Polish tennis Federation applied for a Wild Card to qualies for Agnieszka Radwańska...I hope she will get one :)

For Main draw...I suppose Alicia can get it, probably Cornet, Pin (if she's not a direct entry)

Confirmed:
Oz Open WC (Molik, Pratt, Dellacqua, Fergueson...)
Bremond
Cohen-Aloro

Very likely:
Cornet- Shes been playing well recently in challengers and juniors. Plus shes the young darling of French tennis at the moment
Rezai- shes young and playing well
Johansson- shes young and at the highest ranking of her career

The last two will probably be Pichet and Parmentier, but Pauline has not been playing well recently, so Fedossova could sneak in there.

For qualifying, I think Guisard will be given one because she is really the second best junior after Cornet and even recorded a win over her last year

For qualies I think the wild cards will go to Aurélie Védy, Julie Coin, Mayline Andrieux, Florence Haring, Violette Huck, Estelle Guisard and the one between Pichet, Fedossova and Parmentier who won t have a wc (still Pauline and Virginie could get direct entry, good way to keep the wild card!) + Hampton

One for Radwanska could be a good option!

With the state of modern tennis Steffi should apply for one cause if she played she would beat everyone in straight sets:bowdown:

I am so sorry to write this but just don't give it to Chanda Rubin.

She will either be trashed or withdrawn the week-end before :o

Chanda is completely deserving of a wildcard but it's unlikely she'd take it anyway since she'd want a wildcard to Wimbledon.

even if her record at RG is much better than it is at Wimbledon :tape:

Last year, did Glatch or Gambale not get a WC? Was it for qualies?

I hope they choose Védy or Coin over Johansson and Fedossova, as the former two are much more deserving based on their performances.

A fellow poster [elinaline] told me that Aravane had problems with the FFT and that she might not be given a WC! Of course, she definitely deserves one, but we will see. Allez Aravane :hearts:

Agnieszka Radwanska! :inlove: She could be the Karatancheva of FO 06. :rocker: Although I hope she doesn't cheat.

Also:Molik, Rezai, Cornet, Suarez, Rubin (as long as she doesn't withdraw  )

Oooooh, I don't know if Bovina is recovering/ed but if she is they should certainly give one to her!

So many possibilities... :( :p

Radwanska is going to be pregnant, Tom? :scared: :p

Bovina and Suarez can use SR.

There is going to be a Mini Tournament called "Wild Card Playoffs" 2 days before the qualies starts where there will be 5 Australian players will be implying for. These australian players are Lauren Breadmore, Sophie Ferguson, Casey Dellacqua, Nicole Pratt and possibly Alicia Molik because she is on her special ranking. Soph could win a play-off as Soph's best surface and better record than those australian players! :)

I definitely see Vedy as deserving, but I just don't see a way she'd be given won. Coin hasn't done much this year outside of 10Ks though

four wil cards went today to :

Aurélie Vedy :worship:

Alizé Cornet :worship:

Mathilde Johansson

Pauline Parmentier

+ one ticket for an australian, that means just one spot for a french

definitely Aravane won t get it, still problems with french federation and as 133th she s got direct entrance to qualies, but still  because a few weeks ago she was the best french not to have the direct ticket...

don t know for the last one : would like Julie Coin, but maybe it ll be Fedossova, she qualified in Rabat yesterday when Andrieux and Pichet lost in Saint Gaudens...

:inlove:

I'm mad that Rezai won't get one, but she has a good chance to qualify on her own so not all is lost. The last should go to Fedossova

Pichet is doing well in Strasbourg, maybe she will receive the last spot if she qualify, against Knapp it seems winable

Knapp has been playing really well recently. Pichet will probably get the last WC anyway
