Wow, that is pretty impressive. Where has she been? I remember hearing a bit about her a while back and then nothing for a long time...

Playing a match at 11am will certainly not help Elena as she hates playing in the morning. But IMHO, Elena's talent and feistiness is more than enough to overcome Valkulenko.:D

I still remember that battle Vakulenko had with Pierce at Wimbledon.

Vakulenko has benefitted from some serious cake walk draws in the past month (Jankovic, Schaul, Zanetti, 2 times Salerni) and i'm still skeptical about her long term prospects.

Having said that, Lena needs to bring down the hammer on her and not fool around.

Yeah, Julia has had a good season so far, but she has not yet played someone of the calibre of Elena, other than Clijsters and you saw what happened ;)

Could?

Your kidding me right? It's Elena's first match of the tournament. Even is Julia was on a 6000 match losing streak, there'd be a 90% chance of it going to three sets. :p

I'm a little worried actually

well seems the early morning curse for Elena didnt work today ,she seemed in pretty strong form and in no mood to piss about ,sadly Julia got injured or at least had to retire for some reason which is a shame ,hopefully nothing serious..

Lenas handling the lower ranked players much better these days..
