Of these Debut singles which is the best in your opinion:

Britney Spears - Hit Me Baby 1 more time
Samantha Mumba - Gotta Tell You
Jennifer Lopez - If You Had My Love
Christina Aguilera - Genie In a Bottle
Ciara - Goodies
Alicia Keys - Falling
Beyonce - Work It Out
Gwen Steffani - What You Waiting for
Rihanna - Pon The Replay
Anastasia - Im Outta Love

I cant choose between, hit me baby one more time, gotta tell you and falling. What about u, whats you fav song frm the list, which song gave the artist the best start to their careers :)

For me, probably the best quality song there, as in singer, is Falling by Alicia Keys.
Though i dont particularly like any of them :p

Pity her songs went crap afterwards?
I guess Turn To You, Beautiful, or The Voice Within weren't you style of songs.
Nothing worse than powerful lyrics with a powerful voice in these years of a shallow society right?

I have to go with Xtina.
That one song made her album in 1999.
Noone really previewed her album and yet her album debut at the top of the charts above Diddy's just from that summer hit.

I voted for Alicia Keys with Fallin'

The simplicity of the arrangement and the lyrics in combination with her vocals made it one hell of a song. I still love it.

genie in a bottle tops it for me, though fallin and hit me baby are pretty close.

If You Had My Love was a really nice song.. the only "J-Lo" song I've actually ever liked. Good stuff.

I remember that was my absolutely favorite song back then.
But I liked (and still like :tape: ) most of these songs :p

Oh that's tough. I'm not sure Gwen should be in there, as it wasn't her first ever top hit (No doubt was so popular). For me it is between Hit me baby one more time, Genie in a bottle and Fallin. Vocally and all, Fallin was the best. But the other two were do big and did so much for the girl's career. A toss-up for me. I think if you do the same poll in fw years, Pon de Replay might actually get more votes. Rihanna is the next RnB big thing.

Yeah, but I love Come on Over and What a Girl Wants. And I agree I think her material has gotten better and better. Unlike some other pop-princess.
