This thread is for anyone looking for incredible new anime series that transcends all the innumerable and myriad rehashed, mindless, crap out there.

My top vote goes to KARAS: THE PROPHECY with 5/5 fighting kaos http://smilies.vidahost.com/kao/otn/blobsilly.gifhttp://smilies.vidahost.com/kao/otn/blobsilly.gifhttp://smilies.vidahost.com/kao/otn/blobsilly.gifhttp://smilies.vidahost.com/kao/otn/blobsilly.gifhttp://smilies.vidahost.com/kao/otn/blobsilly.gif

FINALLY, a new series that is both mentally engaging with cutting edge animation. :worship:
This series is by world renowned Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd. Which is a company founded by Tatsuo Yoshida [Speed Racer, Robotech, G-Force a.k.a Gatchaman, Neon Genesis Evangelion, etc...]. This is the guy who singled-handedly put Japanese animation on the worldwide map, IMHO. :worship:

Synopsis:
The worlds of humans and demons have overlapped since time immemorial, and a young woman named YURI and her servant, KARAS, have long maintained order and balance between the worlds. But humans have finally lost their fears of the denizens of darkness. Disgusted by human arrogance, KARAS turns his back on the laws he helped uphold for so long, taking the name EKU and leading a group of mechanized demons in an attack against the human race.
Meanwhile, a detective named KURE who works at the police division in charge of demon-related incidents opens a case involving a series of bizarre murders that look like the work of a water demon. Elsewhere, the demon NUE, who came to town to fight EKU, spots a water demon disguised as a famous warrior... and then YURI shows up with a new KARAS. This new guardian of the city is determined to stop EKU's evil ambitions, but he has a fierce fight ahead of him

Fight scenes:
The use of live-action 3D FX is seamlessly stunning!! The best I've seen.
For anyone familiar with Japanese anime, I liken this series to Spirited away [with it's countless spirits, demons, and symbolism] and Ghost in the Shell [for its cutting edge 2/D and 3D animation action.

Music Score:
The Prague Symphony Orchestra in 6.1 channel sound is crisp and powerful, and melds with the action sequences as close to perfection as I've seen.

Scenery:
Cutting edge CG puts this one up there with some of Hayao Miyazaki's [Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle] best renderings. However, where Hayao's productions are hand drawn works of art usually depicting countryside landscapes, Tatsuo Yoshida takes the 3D Hybrid city-scape route. The renderings are highly detailed with great lighting effects. Although, he could stand to pull back a bit in the special effects area. At any rate, he has once again made use of a breakthrough pocess the he can proudly call his own.

I haven't been this excited about an anime series since I last discovered DRAGON BALL & DRAGON BALL Z. :bounce: :bounce:

In fact, I went here http://www.manga.com/ for a more detailed description. Incidentally, I love me some good manga! :worship: Unfortunately, there aren't many comic book stores in my area that have a good selection. I have to go all the way to Berkeley just to scratch the surface of what's available. :(
