They already have a two strong personalities on the show. Star and Joy are so catty and childish. Rosie will just add to the tension and the program will become a sleazefest.:o

Horrible decision. Soledad O'Brien would have been appropriate, Rosie will kill the show.

Besides her career is in the crapper, this was a horrible call by producers.

They put Rosie O'Donnell on the show after she made those negative comments about Starr Jones' weight loss technique ????

Oh, I'm sure Joy is thrilled!!!

Are they trying to push Starr off "The View?"

I used to enjoy Rosie until she became obnoxious and bitter. I agree. She will kill "The View".

Elisabeth is pro-Bush but not in the way that Rosie is pro-Bush. And we all know how liberal Rosie is. Let's hope the subject of gun-control never comes up

But it's not 100% confirmed that she has the job yet. Maybe Soledad got it.

Rosie O'Donnell Named New 'View' Co-Host

POSTED: 4:46 pm PDT April 27, 2006
UPDATED: 4:53 pm PDT April 27, 2006

Access Hollywood has learned that Rosie O'Donnell will be named as the newest co-host of "The View," replacing the exiting Meredith Vieira.

ABC will reportedly make the official announcement will be made tomorrow, Friday, April 28.

O'Donnell will replace Vieira who is leaving to replace the departing Katie Couric on NBC's "Today."

NBC chose Vieira over several internal candidates, including weekend "Today" anchor Campbell Brown, newswoman Natalie Morales and "Today" newsreader Ann Curry. Brown and Morales had subbed for Couric on "Today" while she was on vacation at the end of last month.

"Meredith's vast experience as an award-winning journalist, as well as talk show host, make her the ideal candidate for this job," said Jeff Zucker, CEO of the NBC Universal Television Group.

They are trying to draw interest in the show by creating controversy. I've heard that Rosie and Joy are good buddies and I can just imagine the back and forth these two will enjoy with Star. Then if Elizabeth says something about Bush ole Rosie might go off on her. :tape:

Maybe they are trying to push Star off the show? I am not sure but it's been rumoured that she's leaving anyways so that already might be sealed.

O'Donnell to Replace Vieira on 'The View'

Rosie O'Donnell is expected to make a surprise return to daytime television by taking over exiting Meredith Vieira's slot on the talk show "The View."

O'Donnell's appointment was reported Thursday by the newsmagazine "Extra." It was confirmed by a person close to the show who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because "The View" wanted to make the announcement on Friday's show.

ABC officials declined comment on the report on Thursday.

Dubbed "The Queen of Nice" when her syndicated talk show went on the air in 1996 and became an instant hit, O'Donnell won six Daytime Emmy Awards in six years as best talk-show host. She left the show to help raise four children with her partner, Kelli Carpenter O'Donnell.

It's an important appointment for "The View," which was created by Barbara Walters. Vieira's news background helped make her the solid center of the program on the days Walters didn't appear on air.

But Vieira joined the game of musical anchor chairs that began when Katie Couric chose to move to the "CBS Evening News." NBC quickly named Vieira as her replacement on the "Today" show, where she will begin work in September.

Joy Behar and Star Jones Reynolds, who have been bickering at each other lately, are also members of "The View" round-table, along with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. They're nominated together in the best talk-show host category at Friday's Daytime Emmy Awards.

"I think every agent in America is calling," Walters told The Associated Press shortly after Vieira's departure was announced on April 6.

O'Donnell has acted in a variety of movie, TV and stage shows, including the films "A League of Their Own" and "Sleepless in Seattle," and "Grease" on Broadway.

She should have no problem holding her own with the other ladies on "The View." Since leaving daytime television, O'Donnell has become a strong advocate of gay and lesbian marriage and adoption. With her partner, she operates a cruise line for gay and lesbian families that was recently featured in an HBO movie.

I think Starr did that herself when half of her fanbase liked her as a bigger women and would have preferred she stayed just a little plump.
Rosie antics have been a bit freightening BUT her movie on HBO has helped for Rosie to be looked at in a better light.

I was offered this gig first. I was top of the producers wish list, just ahead of 1970s sitcom queen Sally Struthers. Rosie was about 16th on the wish list just after Mary Kay LeTourneau, Monica Lewinsky and the dog from Frasier.

So with Rosie joining and Starr already there that's 2 big fat loudmouths the show has ( and approximately 21 chins).

Rosie's a big fat pain in the ass! All that fake drooling over Tom Cruise for years trying to pretend she was straight. At least it was practice for all that drooling she had to do playing a retard in that movie -

Or that might be a picture of her at the press conference announcing she's to present The View. It's so hard nowadays to know whether she's still in character from that movie.

I agree with you entirely. I think Rosie will be so use to running a show and running a show her way that its going to cause a lot of tension not just with her co-host but also with the shows producers. The show doesn't need another loudmouth like Joy B. What were they thinking?

The Views ratings will go through the roof...people love controversy ;) Rosie has worked on many film sets ..she knows how to be a team player ;) I love Connie, Patricia and O brien...they are great personalitys..but Rosie will breathe new life into this show. Finally an inteligent gay voice for THE VIEW :D BRING IT ON! Rosie is a person that has helped out allot of gay and childrens charities. She is so much more then just a "big mouth liberal" that the conserves address her has. She is a person that should be looked up to aswell as takin seriously even though she has comedic chops. Its about time we had a voice on this show....what a great day for human equality rights of all kind . ..:bounce: :worship: :bounce: :wavey:

Actually i find her to be quite ignorant on issues. I remember the time she called out Bush when she got married about his hateful comments on gays. His speech was about how trying to keep the issue as peaceful and just as possible

:haha: Harsh!

I like Rosie though. I find her quite amusing and I find her hilarious when she goes on one of her rants. Her run in with Tom Selleck was a classic!
