Heck no. I think Monica is sexy. I like to see her little booty wobble when she's walking across the court. That doesn't mean she's fat. She's a nice size.

umm....

First it was Is Kim fat

Then Fingon try to take a mick of that person by asking Is justine fat? Which in the case is actually quite a funny post, a good laugh.
The cy... (sorry forget your name) ask if her avatar pic is fat, which alos is quie a funny post

But now it is not even funny.

People joke is funny once or even twice but not anything more than that

I HATE these stupid, pointless "fat" threads!!!!
The truth is, Monica Seles would flat out kill any of you criticizers on the tennis court, which is all that really matters. Saying she's fat underlines your chauvinistic, immoral, vicious attitude towards everything that's great in this world.
You have no respect for how hard it is to be a good tennis player, and how hard it is for a woman to change their metabolism, body type.
I don't know why I'm even responding to these posts...

Yes , she is

yes, Monica is a bit fat, but there's not much she's going to do about it now. some people are more likely to gain weight than others, and those people generally find it harder to lose weight.

look at Kuerten - i bet he can eat loads but doesn't gain an ounce.

i hope we're almost through with the "is so and so fat" discussions............then we can start the "is so and so ugly" threads........
;)

like that hasn't been done before

Ok enough of the is whoever fat thread... if you wanna make it as a joke, like Fingon, that's fine but don't start insulting players :(

She lookes great in that last pic!

I'd say Monica is an average size for a normal person. She will never have the body of Kournikova, but neither will Clijsters, Mauresmo, Capriati, and 99.95% of the world. If she does not watch her weight, she can definitely get heavy, but I'd say she is a pretty standard size. She still looks good in my opinion:)

I think Monica is the phattest player on tour.

Bradshaw#1 - Monica isn't a 'normal person'. She's a professional athlete, and one of the world's best. Different standard.

Having said that...

The weight and condition of professional athletes is a legit topic of discussion where performance is concerned. But these recent threads don't seem to be about athletic performance. They seem to be about whether or not these players meet some artificial standard of beauty that has nothing to do with athletics. Whether or not Serena is fat, Monica is fat, Justine is fat, ec isn't the issue. The issue is, are they at the weight where they will perform best, and healthiest.

I got burned on this at OZ this year. I wrote a whole thread about JenniC and a 'roll of fat around her waste'. Well, turns out Jenn knew more than I did about what weight was best for her. Monica probably knows better than we do what weight is best for her. Same with Serena, Justine, etc.

You want to talk about athletic performance fine. If it's the usual, 'women have to meet some artificial standard to make themselves attractive to men', then it's bullshit.

i think she's always been fat since the stabbing, but is not as fat at the moment as in 1997. Why are you interested in our opinions and wanting to know this? Can't you tell by looking yourself?

she is not fat now but she admitted that she had eatingproblems in the past, not everybody has the courage to do that:)

No,she is not! Fortunately there are still women who look round like women should, like Monica.I hate all those anorexic girls.
Is R. DIS obsessed with Monica's weight? Of course he is,all i've read from him is about the same.So when someone is so crazily obsessed with it,something might be lacking in his own life.

i agree - why keep on attacking somebody that has obviously done nothing to them? has to be inner insecurities.

leave Monica alone.....she's in great shape.

You're right irma, it takes courage to admit something like that ... and yet people still have enough insensitivity to go on about Monica's weight like it's some kind of affliction :fiery: .

None of us can see each other - I wonder how many of us are really in a position to judge ?

...and if in the past she did turn to food... isn't is permissible for a victim of an attempted murder to find other outside sources to comfort them?

I don't think she is fat.
She is very fit to me, running about a tennis court hours on end, hitting the ball as hard as she does.

She has a big build, like Jennifer Capriati, would you say Jennifer was fat? I wouldn't.

Gees, how many times has a thread like this come up along the years.... ay aay aay!

she's not FAT - that's going way OTT. I'd say she can be a bit chubby, but will always be a bit larger because she has a big frame.

For an average person in comparison, she is in tiptop condition. She is extremely fit and looks very healthy. She may have some shape to her hips but that is because she is a woman and her sole biological function is to rear little humans. People forget we are designed by evolution.

I find it very disturbing when people say someone who is clearly not fat is fat because it just compounds our fattist society.

Six years from now, it'll be 'Is Serena Williams fat?' and 'Is Kim Clijsters fat?' Some things never change.
