View Full Version : The Maria "no nerves" Drinking Game

Watching Maria play can be rather nerve wracking. So why not take the edge off a bit and just enjoy the match, drunken idiot style?*
Next time Maria is playing, just grab your largest (and finest) Russian vodka brand of choice, and prepare to drink! Rum, whiskey and expensive cognacs are also fine choices.

If everyone suggests a few rules, drunken fun will be guaranteed for all!

*This game is also effective with sugary, caffeinated beverages (such as a 2L bottle of Coke). By mid-match you’ll be too hyperactive to remember that you were ever nervous about the outcome!

Some rules to start off with:

1.Every time Maria attempts a left-handed shot, sip
2.When an announcer sounds incredulous that Maria was born in Siberia (as if Siberia were just one gigantic, uninhabited wasteland), sip
3.Whenever it is claimed that Maria is dating Roddick, chug the bottle whilst rolling eyes vigorously.

4. when she starts her serve routine at game point, set point, match point, sip (hope for an ace to get it done and over with hehe)

Whenever the commentator mentions

* Maria made x Million in endorsements
* Maria's grunting/screaming
* Yuri at courtside.

Sip.

You won't make it to the eighth game without falling over.

I don't drink but yeah, I should definitely try that everytime they bring bullshit like that up, but I have a feeling that would make me an alcoholic as much as they mention it lol

That reminds me Meggz...

18. Yuri takes off his sunglasses, sip

With all of these rules, I don't think anyone will have to worry about Maria winning or not - you'll be passed out looong before the second set. It'd be fun reading about the results while hung over the next morning though :lol:

oh god...i feel for you :lol:...i hope it never happens again ( :unsure: )...i swear if she had converted any of those matchpoints, there is a great chance we would be sitting here still celebrating back-to-back tier I wins...:o :sad:...and she wouldn't have had people judging her actions in that second set either...ugh!

I just hope she learns from what happened...that's all that we (and maria) could hope for...i await the day when she'll get to have Lindsay's ruthlessness when it comes to trashing lower ranked opponents...you never relax in a match even if you are up 5-0...the more that you should be hungry to bagel your opponent coz even just a point could turn the match around. before you know it you're in a freakin' tiebreak :fiery:. you just don't give your opponent hope especially when you are up against someone who's resigned herself to being a player with nothing to lose or rather resigned herself to losing and decided to just go down swinging. there's a difference in knowing this and exhibiting this mentality on court all the time. maria so far lacks this sharpness imo (the i dont care if i double bagel you attitude lindsay exhibits at times when things are working out for her). but i guess this comes with experience.

as i said, i hope she learned her lessons...

:lol: me, I dont change the channel but I so stop recording when I sense that she is losing...sometimes in hopes that her luck might change :lol:...it's worked a couple of times though - as soon as I stop recording, she starts winning points again, games, and eventually the match (it happened with martina, lindsay, kirilenko, tatiana etc...) hahaha yeah i'm superstitious and :cuckoo:...so now if she's losing, i just stop to record...my theory didnt work though in the miami final...:sad:....but i knew from the beginning she was gonna lose it and it wasn't like she was ever in a winning position so i guess my theory still holds...:lol:

Learn from what? :confused: she did all she could at that game at 5-3, sometimes you can't close it out because your opponent is just to good

Anyway another one

Sip when she serves a second serve at breakpoint :D (I'm always thinking: please don't serve a double on breakpoint lol)
