So here it goes... I'm Meeek, 23 years old, studying pharmacy assistant, Dutch and ofcourse crazy about tennis. I mostly hang around on MTF since that's where I know most people, but things here at WTA World are getting much better now that Dinara has her own forum ;)

Anik, there's absolutely nothing wrong with your English. At all. I never even knew before, that you're first language is French. :) That says enough ;)

Hi, I'm Mary. I'm an engineering professor, amateur artist,
and obviously, a big fan of tennis (I play a bit as well--I love
it!)

I can't remember the first time I saw Ms. Safina play (live),
but I think it was in Indian Wells in 2003. I know I saw her a
lot in 2005 (Indian Wells, Carlsbad, Carson.) She is such
a great player to see live. I just love cheering for her.

You're welcome, and let's thank Meeek too--I think we
both had the same idea at the same time! (Also, I saw
all your posts about wanting someone to write blogs for Ms. Safina;
how could I refuse, since I write about her anyway when
I see her at tournaments?)

Thank goodness Meeek is blogging too, because I know I
will not be doing a blog a day. I pretty much only write when
there's something to say. (But stay tuned for late June, late July
and early August--lots of tournaments for me then!)

Hey all!

I'm Laura. I'm 22 and a 3rd year university student in Ontario (Canada), where I study Russian and German.
If Dinara won the French Open this year, life would be sweet. I will settle though, for a few tournament wins and some consistent ass kicking. :D

Thanks for the welcomes!

A language major you say? I'm always so excited to meet another one of my kind! Sometimes I think we are a rare breed...
What language(s) do you study Sarah?

Perhaps you can join me in the unemployment line when we graduate

Princess Sarah.
Apr 2nd, 2006, 06:39 AM
Lol that was my plan all along...it's apparently where most of us end up.

I'm currently studying Spanish and Arabic and i would have done russian but the university decided to cut the program:( I'm in 2nd yr so i'm not as advanced as you.

myxomatosis
Apr 2nd, 2006, 06:43 AM
Arabic? That's awesome! Not to mention incredibly difficult... Why Arabic though?
Unfortunately a lot of schools seem to be cutting their Russian programmes. I don't know how much longer it will last at my school. Now that the Eville Russkies are no longer the enemy, people seem to have lost interest in the language and culture. It pains me so...

Princess Sarah.
Apr 2nd, 2006, 08:59 AM
Oh because i already speak arabic at home with my parents i thought i should learn how to read and write that reminds me i have homework due tomorrow eek!

myxomatosis
Apr 3rd, 2006, 01:22 AM
Well your answer for why you study Arabic is about 20x better than my answer for why I study Russian, which is always "I don't know". People think I'm a bit strange when they realise I'm not at all Slavic. They ask me what I plan to do when I graduate. I tell them my goal is to be a manager at a Russian McDonald's. (I've got my fingers crossed).
Sometimes I think it would be fun to learn Icelandic. Rather pointless, but fun.

Princess Sarah.
Apr 4th, 2006, 12:50 AM
My friend is learning old icelandic

yeah i just like learning languages and i don't care if i end up at mcdonalds at least i'm doing what i like. I also don't like it when people ask me what i'm going to do after my degree or with it just leave me alone!
