CLOUDS ON THE HORIZON: With the future of her 'Everybody Hates Chris' series assured as a headliner on the new CW network -- after the pending merger of UPN and the WB -- Tichina Arnold admits she has decidedly mixed feelings.

'I'm very happy to know 'Everybody Hates Chris' is part of the new programming. It's exhilarating to relaunch the show,' she says of the award-winning comedy created, executive produced and narrated by Chris Rock, with Tyler James Williams playing the young Chris. 'UPN and Paramount have been very into making sure it's promoted and marketed right. There's a wonderful synergy around the show. 'The problem is the flip side,' acknowledges Tichina, who recently took NAACP Image Award honors as Outstanding Actress in a Comedy. 'A lot of people woke up the day after the announcement knowing they weren't going to have a job any more.

'Of course, I have my ear to black Hollywood and the black community, and the overall feeling is, here you have 33 slots, 33 opportunities. They're now being condensed to 13, between the WB and UPN, which is where all the African-American shows are,' she points out. 'There aren't a lot of ethnic shows on the other networks. That's the scary side. The bright side is it creates a whole new door of opportunity. It's just that the odds are a lot higher now, unfortunately.'

 I'm glad that Tichina was honest about it all because yawl know that she could've been really 'PC' with her answer. I just hope Girlfriends makes it. I want a 7th Season! PLEASE!

She's right I was thinking the exact same thing. Where are the ethnic shows going to go? UPN was created because the major networks refuse to play many ethnic shows. IMO UPN and WB cater to two totally different demographic segments and this merger doesn't seem all that great.

I agree and I think the teen shows from the WB have a better chance of making it than the the black shows. I don't mind if Cuts, One On One and All of Us get cancelled but I hope they can save Girlfirends, Eve and Half & Half. :)

Here are the WB shows I think will get cut:

1. Charmed
2. 7th Heaven
3. One Tree Hill
4. Living with Fran
5. Everwood

UPN Shows that will probably get cut

1. One on One(Crappy season since Flex left)
2. Cuts
3. Love Inc
4. Half and Half
5. South Beach

I doubt it. :( Especially since the cast was making $100,000 per episode, if they do a 7th season, it will be the last one for SURE.

Don't be mad @ me for saying this, but I've always hated that Girlfriends show.

Dana, we could totally watch tv together because I have been thinking the very same thing. Cuts, One on One, and All Of Us can go.

I will be especially dissapointed if Grilfriends, Half & Half, and Eve goes.

And I'm glad Tichina is speaking out about the situation. It looks like alot of black actors and actresses will be out of work again.

Each actress was making $100,000? If so, I think they are worth it. They have great comedic timing.

I do think Girlfriends made it in for the CW line up, but I heard that the upcoming season will be the last one. I'm gonna miss Mya, Toni Childs, Joan, and crazy Lynn.

I remember Lisa Raye stating that she was making only 20,000 an episode for her part in All Of Us. The show must be doing really well for the ladies to recieve 100,000 per episode. And plus it's in syndication so that's more cheddar.;)

Lisa Raye should be happy she's getting $20,000. I can't stand to hear her speak on that show.

:yeah: Like you harloo, I just enjoy all their company. :) Funny thing about Girlfriend but a couple of sistas that I work with can't stand the show because they wonder and I quote "how can they all be friends with that heffa Toni Childs?" :haha:

Oh and Persia really grew on me the last couple of seasons. :) Some of her delivery and facial expressions have me :haha: There was a scene in a recent episode with her and Khalil Kain in a Home Depot that was so funny.

:haha: I know what you mean but for some reason she grew on me (although I still can't stand her show). She can't act at all but there's something about her. Terri J. Vaughn steals her scenes though so yawl know that LisaRaye keeps Terri's role small. :tape: ;)

I hope they don't cut One Tree Hill only because it's filmed in Wilmington matter of fact I couldn't find a parking space for class last week cause they were filming a scene...now that I think about it ....cut that show...:fiery: ....no just joshing...I hope it doesn't get cut.

I thought this last season of Girlfriends has been lacking but what's up with William? He gained a ton of weight like over night. I will say the episode where Joan bought the new car and was being a little self-centered was hilarious when Toni went off on her.

Toni is starting to wear thin with me though. I mean the whole abusive mother thing was getting out of hand. But like you said Girlfriends kind of represents different aspects of the personalities of black women.

My favorite episode was when Lynns sister came to town and she was "acting black". I must of fell out laughing when she was in the black beauty shop singing that Jay Z song and said the N word. Peaches was going to kill her.:haha:

Reggie Hayes sure is blowing up but not in a good way. :o Oh and Rocketta I loved that scene. Toni's such a "b" but I love her. It was so realistic to their relationship. :)

William has blown up and the relationship with him and Joan was so wrong. I do think William can be funny at times though.

Toni is a trip. She was straight up jealous of Joan because finally she decided to start doing something for herself instead of being a doormat.
