What's your source/link?? I hope this is not true! Serena, Mary, Lindsay, now Nicole...Jeez making it mandatory really didn't make a big difference. :(

She's no longer on the Miami draw. Hantuchova takes her place, Pennetta replaces Hantuchova, Jankovic replaces Pennetta, Peschke replaces Jankovic, and a LL takes Peschke's spot.

Too young to already be dealing with injuries. I hope it's more precautionary than anything else.

Nicole  It must be something serious for her to miss IW and Miami. :bigcry:

In an audio interview following her Memphis loss, I think Nicole said she was having shoulder problems. I haven't seen anything official about what her injury is though.

All these withdrawals... And then Justine maybe withdrawing as well...this field will barely be better than IW.

"No.11 seed Nicole Vaidisova withdrew on Tuesday due to an ongoing right shoulder injury."

...is all the WTA has in the Miami notes.

Myskina must be happy. Now here closest seed is Jankovic.

 - As much as I love Myskina, it's irrelevant. She can lose to anyone on her worst days. She can beat nearly anyone on her best days too. Although lets hope it's not like last years Wimby 3rd round!

I think for Nicole this injury is not a bad thing.
It seems like perhaps Nicole had this injury at Memphis and played anyway.
There doesn't seem to be a reason to do the same here and then be out for most of the clay season where she has some points to defend(QF at Charleston, F at Istanbul)
Clay is one of Nicole's favorite surfaces.
Her best chance to sneak into a quarters of a slam this year is probably the French.

Remember that Nicole is still in the AER, so a tournie that she skips now, means an extra tournie that she can play later in the year.

I would hope Nicole is thinking bigger than just a quarterfinal. Slam semi's or even final this year is certainly not out of the question for her imo.

Let's start slow. A round better at a slam is a step in the right direction.
She's good on clay from side-to-side and might be lucky to play someone who doesn't take advantage of her front-to-back movement.
I don't think she would get that luxury all the way to the semis or a finals of a slam.
She needs to continue to play some doubles.

AER dont work like that
it works from birthday to birthday
Nicole only has Amelia Island and Charleston before her next b-day which she can play.
