I would say maria but the way Venus punished that thing inside the baseline at Wim 05 showed me it still needs more time to develop into a slighty faster serve. Davenport/Serena/Venus(when shes actually hitting good second serves) can lay claim to that title.

Not being rude, but just because you have the fastest, doesn't mean it is the best. And I have to defend Dinara Safina. I was impressed with her serve and overall play against Hinis in the Pacific Life Open. Her serve is a tad bit inconsistant, but when she gets that bad boy under control, players are not going to want to see her on the other side of the net.

I wasn't saying that speed is the main factor, but a male player (Ivanisevic?) once commented that Venus doesn't know where her serve is heading half the time- obviously you included her because she has a fast serve

i think justine got a good serve too but its not much effective nowadays coz she just doesnt put enough 1st serves in consistently...Her 2nd serve is good too but its not spectacular plus its kinda predictable..She doesnt go wide on deuce side or down t on ad side at all on 2nd serve..But if the serves on its really effective for sure..Yeah serena serve is :worship: ..Really fluid serve motion..

i agree i hate watching it also, but right now it's the most powerfull, but hopefylly when rena and vee comeback they serve well because i belive that they have the best serve in the game. :)

I dont like to put it that way :lol: :lol: yeah but her second serve is mediocre for sure..But her 1st serve is quite good i think..She can hit body down t and wide from both sides...And she does mix them up...They are REALLY good..Just that there are crazy days nowadays when the 1st serve percent is around 38 % :tape: :tape:

As much as I hate to admit it, Sharapova. Much better consistency than Davenport's, and a less attackable 2nd serve.

I hate her but Sharapova has a pretty good serve. Most consistent is probably Lindsay in terms of the length that she has had that serve.

I say Alicia serves better than all of them even without proper balance. :p

Of that list, no clue. Haven't seen too much of them lately. I like Pierce's serve though, really heavy.

On players not on the list, Stosur and maybe Krajicek have nice serves too.

Serena - when it's on it's AMAZING. Care to remember the Hingis-Serena match in, I think, 2002? She served at 100% in the second set! It's a very powerful serve and can be very hard for the opponent to get the ball back in play. :lick:

Nadia Petrova and Meghann Shaughnessy are one of the best servers on the tour ;) Stosur and Mirza too :p

Maria has the best serve. Her 1st and 2nd serve are both great. Ok, I'm a Maria fan, but i'm not biassed against Maria now. I think Davenport has a very big serve too, I think both players have the best serves at the moment,but if i have just 1 choice, than the best is Masha! :hearts:

I remember Pam Shriver talking about that last year
at Amelia Island I believe. Venus wasn't serving
as hard consistently but she was placing it better.

Also, last year Venus began doing more with her 2nd serve,
not just slicing it in as she used to do.

no i have to disagree with you there sharapova's second serve is one of the best in the womens game, and in my opinion better than nadias, otherwise nadia would be in the top 5, and of course if she didnt beat herself up all the time!

Krajicek's serve is WAY better than Kusnetsova's, Pierce's, etc. Have you ever seen her play? I'm no fan of hers, but I can acknowledge a great serve when I see it :rolleyes:

Yes FYI I have seen her play, only on clay though; Her flat serve is decent but she doesn't place it well and her second serve is more than attackable. ;)And NO, she does not have a better serve than Pierce. I think Pierce is one of the best when it comes to placing and putting pop on her serve.

Venus, when she's on - but, recently that has been rare. At Wimbledon and the US Open, she won so many free points off her serve and she never needed to bomb them.
