Granted Patty gets past Srebotnik and Hingis past Kuznestova but if this works out who do you think would win to become the real Swiss Miss!

I think Martina eats her alive.

I voted for Patty in 3
I'm afraid her spins are just too wicked

I think Kuznestova will be extremely tough...Possible loss for Hingis :(

i picked patty in 2 but it's irrelevant-sveta will get her revenge over hingis!

I know its premature but i think its a very intriguing draw situation and seeing what people think the outcome would be

It would not shock me if it were Srebotnik vs Kuznetsova. Patty doesn't play too well here historically and Martina may be tired.

Hope it happens - they played some great matches in the past - YEC 1998 was some of the best tennis Patty has played.

Schnyder hasn't played in the past few weeks, so I'm not as sure of this as I normally would be.

BUT

If this matchup occurs (and I've been waiting for it since Hingis' comeback) Schnyder, and I'm going to put vCash on it.

Patty in two, extremely tight sets. Martina hasn't yet played anyone like Patty, and I'm afraid that Patty will be too tricky for her.

I expect it to be extremely close. Of course with Patty, you never know. Watch her lose to Srebotnik, she lost to Castano last year. :tape:

Hingis in 3

I voted Hingis in 3 but if Martina is anywhere near 100%, she will win in straights. First of all, the pace of the court will favor Martina. Secondly Martina has a BIG menta edge. Also Martina takes the ball SOOOO early I really don't think Patty's spins and such will be much of a factor, and Martina is more match tough at the moment...I hope this match happens though, It would be fun to watch, P

I am quite surprised that soooo many people think this. Yes she has a big game but Sveta doesn't really have anything to hurt Martina, unless she moves beyond her best and plays with a patience which I have NEVER seen from her. Also, Martina didn't play that well in their first meeting, so she might be surprised if Hingis is even close to her best...

If Martina passes trought Kuznetsova, I think she'll beat Patty ;)

Actually, Patty's spins will make it harder for Martina since she will have to deal with the court's reaction to the spin and trajectory of the ball. Or at least, I think. :p It would certainly be the highlight of the year for me to watch.

I think Martina would beat Patty however she has played so many matches this year, will she ever get tired?

Martina in straights. I don't see Patty really troubling Hingis all that much if this match were to happen.

Definitely Martina in 2 :) I'm much more worried about the match against Kuznetsova in the 3rd round... Mind you, Martina wasn't at her best when she beat Kuznetsova her a few weeks ago.

IF it happens, I say Martina simply because of more recent match practice...

but the Miami courts will not react to the Patty's spins anywhere nearly as much as the say clay courts or rebound ace do. The conditions do not favour Patty here IMO.

Patty is one of the only players Hingis played matches against when she was retired so i doubt she'll struggle that much with the spins.

Honestly i don't think Patty takes this tournament very seriously. She plays it because it's mandatory but i find it hard to believe she'd take the 3-5 weeks she always take before it to train for one hardcourt tournament when the clay court season is right after it.

i don't really expect much from her here but she could do OK.

Martina.
She hardly ever loses against finesse players. You either have to be a power+atleticism player or a very good power player to beat her. Patty is neither.

As Alex said, they played a lot during Marti's retirement. Anyway, if this match happens, hopefully the one without any Criminal Connections will win decisively.
