:wavey: Miami Nasdaq-100. I just love this tourney. I really hope that Venus comes out with her guns smoking. I was watching some past tapes from the 01' US Open Championship and it just seemed like she was playing with soooooooooooooooooooooooo much more confidence. Her cross-court forehand and backhand was devastating and kept her opponents off balance. I also cant stress that she and Serena needs to play doubles again; even if it is not with each other. Good luck Venus and the rest of my fellow Americans. GO BLAKE!!! :wavey:

yeah venus should do well when motivated but she cant always she looked pretty motivated first round of the aussie open but then ended up losing so she is not unbeatable when motivated and this motivation was wimby 05 like. but lacking in match practice cost her as i think it will in this tournie. also i think its not fair for venus fans to say that when shes motivated she can win anything when the truth is she hasnt won a match all year, she cant just expect herself to win a slam without any match practice(maybe at wimby as it is quicker surface and first strike and all) but on a slower surface like aussie open us open she is drawn in to making too many unforced errors due to lack of match practice. so i definitly dont think venus will win miami and sorry but she doesnt deserve too all she cares about is her fashion career, and its not fair when players like maria and kim exc put loads of work in and venus thinks she can just come along and spoil the party, i think venus doesnt deserve to win miami or any other tournie until she has played a number of tournies and improved and focused on her tennis same goes for serena. in fact venus and serena cant expect themselves to do that anymore, with the likes of the ever improving sharapova and co on the tour thay wont be able to just enter a tournie willy nilly and expect to win, wimby was of course an exception for venus but in less the ws ge their acts together they wont be winning any slams this year. sorry im being harsh but i believe true!

can't wait to see the draw, it will be interesting to see who she draws.

i am definitely rooting for either venus williams or maria sharapova to win this thing. it would be AWESOME if maria can become only the third person in history to win back to back here in the US:)

I think playing doubles would be Serena's best option right now. She could shake off the court rust, work on her net game, and since she's spending that time getting ready to play anyway, why not get paid for it?

The thing about tennis is no matter how hard you work if someone is better they are just better. It may nto be fair that Venus and Serena can come back and win but they can. I am under the believe that if Venus would actually play matches she could/would be number 1 but tennis isnt her sole obligation and im ok with that. As long as when shes on the court she means business and does the best she can to balance her life and tennis but still make an effort to put tenins first im happy. I so wouldnt be the least bit surprised to see Venus win Miami... she seemed upset by that oz lose so we shall see what shes been doing with all her off time.

think venus doesnt deserve to win miami or any other tournie until she has played a number of tournies and improved and focused on her tennis same goes for serena. I feel you, but if Venus somehow wins Miami (a big if), she deserves it. Winning is about talent and hard work. Venus has more than her share of talent (she is the best athlete on tour) and if she ever decides to put in the hard work, she'll be steamrolling (witness: Wimbledon 2005). That Venus beats everyone!

Venus is WAYYYY better than Maria on grass sure Maria has done well at Wimbledon the last couple years but if Venus hadnt lost her condentration for a while in the first set she would've beat Maria 6-2 6-1 in the Semis plus Maria may not have lost alot of matches on grass but she did lose to Venus!
