Amazing!

Final appearances in Paris, New York, Miami, Indian Wells! She needs the YEC, Melbourne & Wimbledon to complete her final collections!

To bad she lost in all of her attempts!

Anyways, still very impressive for someone who admits that she don't know how to serve!

I think Dementieva would have preferred winning one rather than reaching a bunch of major finals with no win.

kim has reached 6 of the 7, not 5. aus open, indian wells, miami, RG, USO and YEC. the only one missing is wimby

and while elena's list is impressive, it does lose a lot of lustre considering she hasnt won a single one of them:p

Interesting, though how realistic is to say that Indian Wells is one of the seven best tourmaments? There are other tournaments that are currently better in the fields they attract and probably in prestige, even if they don't offer as much money.

It's really too bad that she's a perpetual bride's maid though. :(

But she will win something one day. She will.

right now she's an underachiever.

the harsh reality is that elena could have easily been #1 in the world if she had just won that one extra match. she'd be an olympic gold medalist, two time GS winner, had a shitload of tier 1's...she'd have triple the titles she has.

it's sad, because she fights so much just to come up short.
she'll get there.

You should add Charleston to the list - biggest tournament on green clay and a Tier I.
Also add Olympics to the list. Both, ahem, are on Dementieva's finalist list..

Basically, there is a concept of all "surface Slam", which was debated on RST a while ago.
1) Australian Open ( Rebound Ace )
2) Charleston ( Green clay )
3) Roland Garros ( Red Clay )
4) Wimbledon ( grass )
5) US Open , outdoor cement
6) carpet Tier 1 or YEC ( this year - Moscow )
7) indoor hardcourt Tier or YEC ( this year - YEC )

7 distinctively different playing conditions. The only one on my memory who had a career all surface Slam was Graf. The closest one is Hingis who needs RG.
