Linds  . This is not a good sign. If you don't get it together, you will probably be seeded #5-8 at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Basically you need to stock clowning around with Gwen Stefani and get to a practice court. To go from number 1 and the beginning of the year down to #5 :tape: in 2 months

pierce0415...
Don't spread panic;).
She doesn't need a practise court hours like ... she needs to get 100% fit again to compete on the 'highest level'.
So, I suppose you're confident that JHH,Kim, Momo and Masha will defend all of their points?

Rankings don't mean that much if she is in form

Remember Venus was ranked number 16 and seeded number 14, and still beat the number 1 and 2 in the world at wimby ranking means nothing, skills and ability is what counts in the end. Davenport has what it takes to win anything no matter what her ranking is.

ranking doesn't mean anything to her (per Lindsay's interview). She is still in the game to win a big one.

She can make up ground in Miami where she has nothing to defend right? However, if she pulls out of Amelia Island she'll drop back down. She doesn't have much to defend after that, until the French at least.

Calm down pierce0415. It was inevitable that her ranking was going to slide this far with the likes of Justine, Momo and Kim having little to defend from this time last year and with their results they have climbed above Dav. She said at the end of last year that she was playing a limited schedule this year and with her back injury it's probably going to slip even more and so what if she's hanging out with Gwen Stefani the woman needs to enjoy herself

And what about Mary? :tape: You're no Lindsay fan,so stop acting like you're concerned.

Last year Linds was one point away from winning Wimbledon. But she had to go through a killer draw of Clijsters, Kuznetsova, Mauresmo and V Williams. We all know that Linds is not the best fighter mentally. If she did not have such a tough draw, she prob would have beaten Venus

So if she is ranked in the top 4, it will make a BIG diff as opposed to being ranked in the #5-8 range

I like Linday's game and personna and I can say I was always close to being her fan but I am afraid that time is catching up to her . She is a step slower each time and the dedication just to keep at a certain level is waning. Unfortunatelly father time is catching up to her and I am not the least bit surprised she is falling in the ranks either

That's funny considering she's as fit and fast as she's ever been. But keep acting like you know what you're talking about.

Everyone knew her ranking was going to fall this year seeing as she isn't playing a full schedule. I can't say I'm surprised it fell so fast because she had helluva lot of points to defend from the start of last year, and as much as I would have liked to see her win the AO and Indian Wells, the draws were a bugger, so obviously that was going to affect her rankings.

Her current back injury isn't going to help matters, and I agree with winone23, ranking doesn't matter - ability does. And until she rests up she won't be able to do anything. I'd rather she relaxed with Gwen that made her injury worse.

Unless she falls outside the top 50 then there is nothing to worry about.

Lindsay really doesnt care.
She was the number one ranked seed or player at each of the last five slams.
She didnt come up with the goods and only avoided playing the best until the latest rounds.
It didnt seem to help her much. She was one of the most underrated top seed ever in the history of tennis in the Open Era.
Lindsay knows she will eventually have to beat the best like Serena and Venus did last year so why not sooner than later.
