The annual awards ceremony for both tours will held in miami on March21.

but looking at the history i noticed glaring omissions.

Steffi and monica seles never won the most impressive newcomer award. While names as obscure as stephania rehe or stndanova have won it.

on the men's side its just worse.Rarely any notable champions except mcenroe and safin ! what is the criteria and who decides these awards? i don't think have a good opinion going by past records..

I don't know what the criteria is but I would love to attend! Anyone have a free ticket.... Miami is just 3hrs down the interstate.

it's like oscars, it's mostly meant to promote the sport and hype different personalities which means that the awards are not very correct.

Like any other awards, the main criteria is probably kissing a lot of ass!

I was going to say that! She was a great player unable to ever reach her full potential because she was blighted by serious injuries from early on in her career. She still reached the Top Ten however, albeit briefly.

It's decided by fan vote
