I reached Dubai today and went straight to the tournament and I'm told I can't attend any matches because the entire tournament is sold out. There were tv screens in the office which showed matches and 75% of the stadium was empty! Anyhow, I bought a ticket off this guy and got in and attended the matches, but why dont they have some policy where people who purchase tickets and then dont attend for a certain duration lose out to other people willing to take the ticket.

I have to go looking for spectators to buy tickets from tomorrow as well.

Oh, did you ES viewers here me blow my horn during the Hingis and Momo matches today? :p

Yeah I know and I was so pissed off. All these idiots, who know shit about tennis, with tickets while I, with more tennis knowledge in my pubes, without one. The man I bought my ticket for today from was an Indian (I'm SO grateful to him for selling me his extra ticket). But yeah, I was pissed off and felt like ranting. I was looking for Lindsay so I could start bitching about Larry Scott to her. :p

TBE, I saw Likhovtseva/Zvonareva vs Rodionova/Vesnina warm-up. Tried to take pictures, but couldn't get a goood shot. Also saw Queen Masha, Nastya, Doushevina amongst the Russian queens.

How much will that cost?
I prefer to buy tickets for 30 Dirhams for all matches in the day... I attend all matches. Of course they can have packages

Btw. I'm ticketless as well. I attended the first 3 days, and will attend 3 days in ATP, but that's it. :(

The box office said its sold out. :o

The ticket system is fucked up...it's good for people like me who want to attend every match, but when idiots like sania's fans buy all the tickets and then we have empty stadiums, thats really annoying.

Why didn^t you check ticket availability before you went to the tournament?

I've been to lots of tournaments before and it's never happened (including Dubai in 2003).

Besides, there wasn't anyway to buy tickets online that I knew off, or I would have bought mine in advance.

It's raining in Dubai right now.

What did you want to bitch to Lindsay about Larry scott?

I wanted to tell her how it didn't make sense that there were no tickets while people stood outside dying to get in but couldn't and the girls inside were playing to an empty stadium. And generally, how Larry Scott is an idiot. I'm sure she would have agreed!

They can't do that....no offence to you my friend but if some one who has a ticket comes and finds his seat taken the organisers are legally liable.....I've been to many tourneys where the tickets were sold out and there were many empty seats.....you just have to find a way to go in.....

That's why I was suggesting a policy where if ticketholders dont show up within 15-30 minutes of the match starting, they have the right to re-sell the ticket.

Think of it like a flight. If a passenger with a confirmed ticket does not check-in for the flight atleast 30 minutes before the flight, the passengers give their seat to passengers without confirmed seats. I flew on Emirates when I came here, and they have a policy where if you do not check in or board the aircraft by a certain time, they have the right to remove your luggage from the aircraft and not allow you on board.

Empty stadiums look really bad on tv.

Okay so now I like this tournament...temporrarily. :p

I got a ticket but it was kinda washed out. So, play starts tomorrow at 10:30 and I can use my ticket from today to watch the QF....including Hingis-Sharapova. *deathed*

Lots of funny stuff today...they showed a video in the stadium of Lindsay and Maria at the ski resort playing tennis and Lindsay throwing snowballs at this guy and making snow angels and laughing. Sweet! Oh, and I caught myself staring at Lindsay's ass today and thinking to myself, "Hmm....not bad at all!" :o

I guess most of the tickets were reserved for sponsors who then handed them over for free to their executives, workers and assorted cronies - and few of these bothered to actually show up.

Just to play devil's advocate, maybe tell Lindsay to waive her big appearance fee so that the tournament doesn't have to sell all the tickets to big corporate sponsors who don't care about tennis just to get the money to pay these players just to show up!

The girls aren't very accessible here so it's difficult to speak - and this tournament has no autograph signing sessions which blows because I wanted to get a pic taken with the players.

Lindsay came out on centre court to get a warm-up practice session in with some guy. Initially, it was Svetlana and her coach practicing on centre court when Amelie and Loic came as well. The four started practicing like they do in doubles, except Amelie was hitting with a girl who I am almost positive was Schiavone. That's when Lindsay came out. When, she and her coach/hitting partner/husband (not sure) came on, Amelie and her gang left. Lindsay called out "Hey Svetlana"and Svetlana had this grin on with all her teeth showing. Then Sveta even left and Lindsay wrapped her practice session as Momo and Kuzzy were coming out to play their match and they needed the court. Lindsay was wearing a lilac full-sleeved top with black pants(tracks, which looked like pants - not the parachute material!) and her tennis sneakers. She is really thin. I was surprised.

Before all the practices, Lindsay was standing around talking to Alan Mills while the kids were drying up the courts. She seemed warm and friendly.

But, Marco it's so cloudy here. There's no sunshine at all. And Hingis-Masha can't start unless Momo-Kuzzy is complete so I'm waiting for Momo-Kuzzy to start before I leave.
