View Full Version : Dubai Fight: Hingis Vs Myskina

There is no love loss between these two competitors. Myskina was quoted as saying that she wants a shot at Hingis because she doesn't think Martina is anything special. Hingis will surely want to prove Myskina as nothing special and undeserving of being a French Open Champion, a title that has eluded Hingis.

i think hingie will take this, although you definitely can't count out a scorned nastya...i think this will be one of hingis' more intense and close matches since her comeback, but i see her toughing it out in 3 sets

ROTF! DEATH!

Are you serious? Nastya is Hingis-lite, minus the anticipation and mental strength.

Not only has Hingis played better than Nastya this year, Nastya really doesn't have weapons to challenge Hingis at this point IMO. Hingis' serve power has improved, and she will have no problem with Myskina's. Nastya's groundstrokes are almost as inconsistant as Sania's, and not as hard. 6-4 6-3 for Hingis I think.

Can you PLEASE say why? I don't see how any person who's watched tennis for the past year can say that Myskina is a level above Hingis. Compare their results this year, and Hingis wins. Look at their best wins, and Hingis wins. Look at match stats, Hingis wins. Nastya's played awful for the last year, so HOW can she be a levle above Martina? Please. :p

Some of your sentences made me laugh :D
Have you ever seen Nastya play? WHEN HER HEAD IS READY FOR TENNIS Nastya has anticipation, an amazing fighting spirit and can have very consistant groundstrokes!!
But once again it's all a matter of state of mind

BTW I'm not sure she'll win again Hingis :tape:

Yes I've seen her play, and I'm a big fan of her. And my post wasn't meant to discredit Nastya's chances, because anything can happen in tennis and if she plays like she can she could win. I was just wondering how someone could say that Nastya was playing better than Hingis at this point, since it's clearly not true.

I'm going w/ my Bitchy ass Martina Hingis !!!!!!!!! GO MARTINA!!!!!!!!

Player Comparison

SERVE...I"m going w/ Martina Hingis...I'm expecting Myskina to commit alot of UEs

Backhands....this is kind of EVEN....the more consistent one appears to be Martina Hingis

Forehands...Myskina may have more power but she tends to commit alot of UEs...so Martina Hingis

Movement ....ALMOST EVEN.

Transition game...I'm going w/ Martina Hingis

Martina Hingis certainly needs to go after Myskina's game right away...to have a chance....I'm predicting she'll manage just FINE!!!

Martina Hingis defeats Myskina 6-3 5-7 6-4

Neither is at their best so far his week. Serves are similar.Games are similar. weapons are similar. Both play chess on the court. Both have something to prove. Nastya is faster. Nastya is probably fitter. Whoever turns up on the day and probably who serves best wins.

First a nice :spit: at your posts

Nastya is Hingis-lite, minus the anticipation and mental strength.

This is poor statement. Don't try this as you can only embarass yourself later.

Not only has Hingis played better than Nastya this year
But I'm sure you know this has nothing to do with the match itself. Dementieva destroyed Hingis and she had a poor year.

Compare their results this year, and Hingis wins. Look at their best wins, and Hingis wins. Look at match stats, Hingis wins. Nastya's played awful for the last year, so HOW can she be a levle above Martina? Please.
Try not to live in the past so much. Look at their GS titles and Hingis will win you could say. IT DOESN'T MATTER. If you really know anything about tennis you should not be making these childish replies. Nastya can beat any player any time if she keeps her head cool and doesn't choke. It's a fact. So does Hingis. Whoever wins tomorrow just played better. That's all.

Yes I've seen her play, and I'm a big fan of her.
No you're not

And my post wasn't meant to discredit Nastya's chances, because anything can happen in tennis and if she plays like she can she could win.

hingis for sure..
I have never been as impressed with Myskina as some others.. I think she has a nice game but I don't see her as truly an elite player. YES I know she is a GS champ and all..

maybe this match will change my mind about her.

but I don't think hingis will let this one go.

Would you kindly blow your bullshit out of your ears so you can listen? Last time I checked, you dont tell me who I'm a fan of. Again, I do like Myskina - but some of the statements here were silly. Thats why I brought up past results, because it is really out of left field to predict Myskina winning easily. :D

Myskina doesn't anticipate nearly as well as Hingis does. It just appears so because Myskina is incredibly quick around the court. Martina looks really quick because her anticipation is just scary good, while Myskina relies on her swift feet to track down so many balls. I see Hingis winning this one in 3 sets.

blumaroo
Feb 21st, 2006, 09:15 PM
Myskina can run down a lot of balls so Martina can't really move her around the court that easily. If Myskina is erratic, then Martina should just wait for the mistakes. If Myskina is consistent then Martina should go to the net. If both show up then it could be a very tight match.

I think Martina can and hopefully will win. But Myskina is a champ at winning the ones she wants too, just like when she never lost to another Russian. It will be a tough match, but tennis is so unpredictable, it depends how they play on the day, if Martina brings her Sharapova beating form, she will win easily.

If Martina serves a little better than she did against Sania, then she shouldn't have too much trouble. I think it could be close, but Martina talked trash about Sharapova before she came back and insured that she won easily. She also talked trash about Myskina...and I think she will be putting something extra into this match to prove it wasn't all talk.

I DONT KNOW ... I love them both ... I swear the draw was rigged hahahaha!!!

It really depends on Myskina i think .... If she has a slow start, in which she always does, then i think Hingis will win ... If she has a great start or if it goes to three sets, i think i would have to say Myskina coz she is the queen at 3 sets :)

Look foward to the match though ...

I'm not sure where Myslina's head is at. If she's in the right place mentally, she'll take this, primarily because she won't fall for Hingis' placement tactics. She won't try to hit a winner off a tough shot, or hammer it to right where HIngis is waiting for it. Myskina has, or had, the quality most necessary to defeat Hingis. Patience.

Hingis in two easy sets. 6/3 6/2.

Myskina doesn't have anything special that Hingis can't handle. They played a tight three setter when Hingis was burning out and Myskina was fresh and younger. Hingis will kill Myskina.

Hingis has better placement

Better net game

Better mental game

Better weapons
Better anticipation

Myskina has better feet.

I think Nastya will win 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. I only see this match goin two ways. Martina killing Nastya in 2 sets or Nastya winning it in a tight three setter.
