I don't remember when was the last time that Nadia lost in 1st or 2nd round...It was a very tough draw for both of them. Maria K. just need to continue with good results and to be stable. She is also now candidate for Russian team in fed cup this year.

Maria is a streaky player even in a match. If a player gives her an opening she usually takes advantage of it.
Lindsay kinda got caught doing the same thing at Australian Open against Masha.
Shes a very dangerous player and gonna be tough to just put away in the years to come.
Nadia might have been tired but I doubt it. She just looked ahead a little bit and got caught at it.

Petrova tanked the match?

And could anyone give a report on this match?
Match Report:

1st SET:
A few close games which Maria lost due to nerves (Petrova 4-1 up). Petrova was already pissed off before she came on court, but there were a couple of line calls she didn't agree with, and her game fell apart. (Maria wins 6-4)

2nd SET:
Petrova just couldn't be arsed. She barely ran more than 3 steps for anything, whereas Maria ran for everything and hit for lines. (Maria wins 6-1)

How's that for a match report?
Pretty freaking good!!!

:yeah: This was my exact assessment of Kirilenko the moment i saw her catching up to Nadia in the first set. In almost all the matches I've seen her play, she's done well to take advantage of every opportunity given to her. She certainly doesn't throw away good chances. Fortunately for her, Nadia is too much of a headcase to handle such a reaction from her.

-People this is just one week! No one knows what happened before the match, mabey she got some bad news or somthing. But what I'm saying is that some of you are all like "Nadia is overrated", "this is the fall of Nadia" and other shit like that. This is Nadia's first, 1st round loss in like 6 months:eek:! Give her a chance, dont give up on her...and if you have nothing nice to say about her...fuck off:ras:!

Good luck in the dubs for the rest of the week babe:kiss:!

Petrova ousted at Dubai Open

February 21, 2006

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Fifth-seeded Nadia Petrova lost in the first round at the Dubai Women's Open on Tuesday, beaten by Maria Kirilenko 6-4, 6-1 in an all-Russian match.

Kirilenko won a total seven games in two previous matches with Petrova. This time, she took advantage of her opponent's weak second serve.

Kirilenko won her first WTA title in Beijing last year and reached the third round of the Australian Open last month.

"I have worked very hard on my service game, and have also made a conscious effort to reduce the number of mistakes on the court," Kirilenko said. "Also, I have much more experience now." ( its all about getting more EXPERIENCE!!!! CONGRATULATIONS LIL MASHA!!!:worship: :yeah: :woohoo:

Nadia's attitude and tanking was disgraceful for a top player. She should be at least fined cos she wasn't even trying and she was just letting balls go past her that she could easily reach.

She reminded me of why i hate her. Her game is nice to watch but her attitude totally stinks.

Congrats Maria on proving your maturity and also playing some nice shots. That's when Petrovarated wasn't tanking :)

Always glad 2C someone adopt a name I gave a player. :D BTW, if I didn't give someone some information that (further) fucked up PP's "brain" temporarily in Linz last year, she probably would have beaten Petrovarated in the final. And Corswandt is probably right about the appearance fee. ;)

personally, i thought this was more due to rustiness, as she hasn't played since tokyo.
It could well have been rustiness, but in the oncourt interview after the match she said how nervous she was to be playing somewhere she's never played before, against a higher ranked player who is also Russian.
